Fine dining, fine atmosphere and fine wines. Lovely inside, service was pleasant and the menu a delightful surprise offering variety. We ate a pork loin in a cranberry reduction that was good. Desserts were yummy as well. The place is huge, with inside and outside dining available and lots of nice areas.

While driving from Florida to our new home in Phoenix, we stopped in Las Cruces on Sunday after a long day's drive. We had eaten the worst meal ever for lunch at a Sonic in Texas, and all we wanted was an acceptable dinner. We got to our hotel after 9 PM, and asked the clerk if there were any restaurants nearby still open on a Sunday night. As it turned out, she suggested the St. Clair Winery, and called them to ensure that they were open (until 10 PM, as it turned out).

First, the service. It is not unusual to have warnings about sharing plates, and many restaurants discourage this. If they don't discourage it, they are usually not very helpful, and one often needs to ask for extra plates which are sometimes grudgingly distributed. Well, when we told the waitress we would be sharing everything, there wasn't even a question - she brought out every dish on two plates, already divided in the kitchen, and even had separate containers of the sauces on each plate. This was the best experience we can remember in terms of a restaurant accommodating guests who want to share their meals.

Second, the food. It is was surprisingly good, with an excellent, and huge, piece of prime rib still available at that time on a Sunday night. As I mentioned, it was divided in the kitchen, and the side vegetables were also prepared in an interesting manner - not just taken out of a steam pot, but grilled fresh, and we each had our own containers of the "au jus" and horseradish dip.

Third, the wine. Yes, it is a winery, and we knew nothing about New Mexico wines. They offered a tasting flight of 6 one-ounce pours for just $6 - yes, that is not a mis-print, just six dollars. We tried three of their white wines and three of their reds, and found them all to be interesting, and some of them very good - as good as most California reds. Their grapes are all grown locally and their winemaker creates at least two wines with differing qualities from each grape.

Finally, the service again - the waitress was both friendly and efficient, not always the case for this time of night just prior to closing. She helped make this a very nice dining experience, all the better because we hadn't expected anything this good.

One of the best wines i have tasted. The lunch was delicious and so filling, at a very reasonable price.

St Clair Winery & Bistro in Las Cruces, New Mexico was one of the "BEST" dining experiences that me and my family have ever had! I was entertaining some of my family from out of town in California and we had the time of our life...Immediately after being seated we were greeted by our waitress who was as friendly as they come... We were offered a tasting of the "wine of the month" which for November was a Lescombes Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 release... which was "delicious"!!! As we took in the ambience of this amazing restaurant whom who ever has decorated this restaurant did a fantastic job of making it a warm European style, with a Southwestern flare with their own brand of wine bottles displayed elegantly everywhere. We were seated on the enclosed patio where you are surrounded with beautiful green living plants, and Southwestern decor that over looks the beautiful Las Cruces Mountain Range. You can choose from their amazing wine list, or wine flight menu which offers you a selection of three wines that are paired together. The menu consists of a 'AMAZING" selection from delicious salads, to a perfectly cooked steak or pasta which comes in many different preparations. We ordered the pasta New Mexico, prime rib fresh grilled salmon and catch of the day which was a c-bass provencal which was all cooked to "perfection"!!! For dessert we were offered a dessert tray that had several real desserts on display that we could choose from. We selected the port wine brownie and crème brulee with a nice hot cup of hot coffee that was offered to us without even asking to accompany our dessert. The live entertainment was a great way to end our fine dining experience while enjoying our delicious dessert!!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that passes through our lives in the Las Cruces area! Our dining experience was one that my whole family will be talking about for awhile and we would also recommend St Clair Winery to "ALL" our friends and family!!! It is a "MUST DO"!!! :) I want to add that "NOTHING" on this menu was over twenty dollars!!!

I felt like steak tonight, so I perused the Tripadvisor reviews for Las Cruces steak houses. Pretty depressing, so I had to look at "American", and this place had steaks. A perfectly cooked sirloin. I bet that even if they had cooked it wrong, it would still be delicious because of the quality of the cut . Good local Pinot Noir, fair prices.
