great food and price. Good portions. Great service.Had enough to pick from as we don't like Mexican. The natives were going around selling their items, but very polite and didn't other you if you said no.

If you need a meal in Gallup, New Mexico, try Earl's, it is delicious food at very reasonable prices. We went for lunch and the line looked long, but the host works tirelessly to find tables for people depending on the number in your party. One neat thing is licensed native Americans come by and politely try to sell you hand made art work while you wait for your food. If you're not interested they are polite when you say no. I got some enchiladas and they were great. Plus the restaurant is on Route 66. We enjoyed it.

On our way from Albuquerque to Grand Canyon, we stopped in Gallup for lunch. After reading Trip Advisor reviews and seeing signs along the road it seemed to be a good place. We ignored the poor reviews and went anyway. Bad idea. Everything looked very unkept and the dirty floors should have made us leave. We ordered the Navajo taco, which tasted ok but a 1/2 order was enough yo feed 4! By the time the food came, I'd lost my appetite. The best thing about it was eating with a restaurant full of Natives, who also bring items to the table for purchase. So, if you're looking for Natives it's the place to be. If you're looking for food, not so much.

Earl's is a real Gallup experience. The food is New Mexican diner food, and is pretty good as far as restaurants go in Gallup. My parents used to live in Gallup, and this was a favorite breakfast spot. We recently stopped here for dinner on a road trip, and it was better than expected.

Part of the charm is that artisans, mostly Navajo, make their rounds to each table selling their wares. If you're not interested in that, you can ask for a sign to place on your table indicating as much, and the artisans will skip you. Some times there are booths set up in front of the restaurant, too, in a more market style approach. The prices are always very reasonable and the people friendly.

A piece of my heart belongs to Earl's because my parents cherished it so, but I've also come to appreciate it's unique Gallup feel and look forward to stopping there when we drive through town.
