“Great food & service”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

While traveling, we decided to try this restaurant based on the review on AAA. We were more than satisfied. We were greeted immediately by a friendly server and things got better from there. The waitress, Paulette, was very friendly and was able to tell us about the specifics on the items we asked about. The buffalo sirlion was very tasty, and my husband's rib-eye steak was spiced just as he liked it. The dinner included a very nice soup (I had salad) and potato. My husband's order of "poppers" was very generous and tasty -- if you like "zing," and he does. For dessert, we shared an outstanding Bananas Foster -- as good as any you would find in New Orleans! They also have a very nice wine list, at fair prices. When we come back this way, we'll definitely stop at the Badlands Grill.

“Very Good Food -- Don't let the austere parking lot turn you off”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Notable positives -- great service, very good food, nice décor

Notable negatives -- parking lot was spacious but a bit spooky feeling at night; bathrooms could be updated

Food -- a very good chicken dish and a good steak

Ambience -- western motif with nice background music (country from the 80's and 90's)

Best tables -- booths were best

Attire -- casual

Noise level -- low; easy to converse

Bar/TV -- not applicable

Outdoor seating -- not sure it has; we ate here on a winter night

View -- none, but the décor makes up for lack of view

Neighborhood -- industrial

Value -- very good food but a bit pricey, especially some of the entrees.

“Great Ribs”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

After a 11 hr. day on the road we were happy to get to Gallup and the Badlands Grill. We both had the ribs and they were fall off the bone terrific. We chose the honey barbeque sauce and recommend it. They offer three sauces. We also loved their homemade chips. Had their potato skins as a free appetizer as we stayed at the Hampton Inn off Exit 16. Delicious. Place was clean and our server, Paulette, was pleasant and most attentive.

“Best restaurant in Gallup”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

OK that may be a stretch because it is the only restaurant we have eaten in Gallup.
But, the meal was excellent.
My steak was done very well and was juicy and tender. My wife's chicken earned raves from her.
The crown of the meal was the lightly mashed potatoes with a creamy flavor and a peppery finish. We both had these and were very pleased.

“Nothing fancy steakhouse but pricey”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

The restaurant is decorated in knotty pine boards with various animal heads and other Western paraphernalia hanging on the walls. The prices were a bit high so we decided to go with the 8 oz. sirloin for $20. (I would have loved the buffalo steak at $31 or the elk filet at $55 but couldn't afford it.) Dinner included a salad and garlic mashed potatoes. The sirloins were cooked to perfection with no additional seasonings. The potatoes were garlickly but not overdone. A very basic meal for two for $70 with tip. Our waiter Chen was fine but the hostess took away our bread before we were done with it. (What is it with these western states and taking the bread away early?). We also had a bottle of Rex Goliath wine for $18.
