“Native American art”

We have purchased several items from here over years and alway have a great experience. Larry knows everything there is to know about the rugs and the weavers who make them. Also the silver jewerly and carvings. Jan 2013 is the 100th anniversary of this business and the owner, Mr Richardson, at 90 is still working there every day!

“The best is here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

No need to worry if it's authentic, at Richardsons it all is and alway was....hang out a bit and you will see the artists and others come in to sell, to pawn or redeem pawn. If you think the prices are high, try Santa Fe prices! Richardons is cheaper and better. Not overpriced for the quality, go elsewhere for cheap junk made ovrseas, there are places like that in Gallup too. Here, prices are negotiable, especially if you know and appreciate true craftmanship, and take time with the sales persons. Huge selection, questions honestly answered, no hype. Store owners from other states shop here. I've been a collector since 1975 and rate Richardsons as ten out of ten.

“Interesting stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

This store had a variety of native American goods for sale. No bargains. Had mo idea Navajo rugs were so expensive. I think this was the store that had a pawn section where they had hundreds of saddles stacked by rows. Worth the stop just to look.

“We Love this Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

If you are in Gallup, this is a place you should visit. It is very educational just to walk areound and look. There is no pressure to buy anything, and they will answer all your questions. The quality of their selection is very high, so if you expect K-Mart prices, you are in the wrong place. But, their prices are actually very good for the quality. I have priced the same object on Ebay, and it is always less expensive at Richardsons. And they will give you an education on the items and culture. Don't miss it. Many of the Indian's use them as a storage facility and not a pawn shop. They store their expensive saddles and jewlery for the winter where it is in a clean, secure, rodent free enviornment. So if you see them only getting $30 for a very expensive piece, that is why. They are not getting taken advantage of, but recieving a service. We have shopped here numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed.

“Great selection and Inventory but overpriced.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

We only rated the store average due to the prices. Yes, the family has a great reputation for Indian Jewelry but the prices are outrageous. They obviously make the money on the pawn business and don't care about turning the inventory. I looked at one item that was not Indian Jewelry and they had no basis for the price other than Bill Richardson had priced it.
Beautiful selection and worth a visit but save your money and shop elsewhere.
I am very familiar with pawnshop economics and they clearly do not turn the inventory much but make the dollars on the pawnshop business. Look but do not buy.
