“Great rooms, setting, and hosts -- difficult shower and sub-par breakfast”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

The Inn is set back from the road alongside a surprisingly big river. The natural setting is beautiful and the architecture of the house is unique and lovely. Everything was very clean and our hosts were friendly. There were only two problems preventing a 5-star rating: the water was either scalding or freezing, making a good shower impossible, and the breakfast was below average. We stay at B&Bs a lot for the personal touch, cleanliness, and usually delicious and filling breakfasts. We typically do not have to eat lunch that day. However, while everything served here was tasty, there were only two items and both were baked sweets. No fresh fruit or protein to fill us up. We waited for the main course, only to realize there wasn't one!

Thank you for staying with us during your journey.
The B&B has given me, Diana, the opportunity to use a room as my canvas for some artistic expression. I have discovered that I do love material, how it feels, how it drapes, the colours that it holds. Did you know that the colour green was one of the most difficult colours to “give” to man made materials? Through the years with the B&B I have developed a growing appreciation of the art of an architect who must understand how people move about a particular room with its furniture, mirrors, doors, windows and I must add light switches. Wish I had known all of this years ago but have built up my knowledge base and given what I could to the rooms for our guests. David is the one who is most responsible for the building itself, with of course a great deal of help and influence from our architect and builder.

We stayed at the Silver River Adobe Inn for two nights in the middle of a two week adventure in New Mexico and Colorado. It was the perfect place to slow down for a couple of days and recharge for the rest of our trip. The inn was cozy and the food divine! And yes, you really do have to go through the fire station parking lot to get to the inn!

What a joy you have brought to our B&B. To experience a guest enjoying a moment of ecstasy while sitting on the porch watching the San Juan River (which is 50% of New Mexico’s surface flowing water) flow by reminds me of the song “Ol Man River” honoring the Mississippi River. Though our river is far, far, smaller than the great Mississippi, it brings to us the same necessary degree of the life giving nurturing that any river gives to its people living close by. To take the time to sit and watch the river, the sunset, is a way of giving back to the natural world, to God, thanking him for what he has endeavored to give us.

The best part of staying here was the friendly owners.David was very chatty and like the previous reviewers we enjoyed a long chat over breakfast and he recommended places for us to go locally.

The room was very comfortable much needed after days of camping! It was good to have a mini kitchen as well.Breakfast was nice- waffles and blueberry juice.

We went to the 3 Rivers Brew pub and the skins were great and I really enjoyed the cider. My husband enjoyed the beer sampler.

Would definitely go back again!

Thank you for your kind words. It is our pleasure to offer a relaxing environment and a healthy breakfast which will give you the energy for your adventures of each day. One does go on holiday not just to see new sites and experience new landscapes but to renew the soul and body. When we have guests who sit by the river it warms my heart.

My family and I stayed for three nights while on business. This B&B only has one guest room, and we benefited from the personal touch that the owners provided. David, the innkeeper, kept us company every breakfast. I came down with a neck ache, and his wife, Diana, also a massage therapist, gave me a professional massage on the spur of the moment. The breakfasts were above average and quite unusual. The B&B is within walking distance to a park and playground. On the downside, there is a bit of road noise from nearby Highway 64. Overall, we will probably stay there again.

It is most gratifying to learn that your stay with us served your expectations and that you found the breakfast to be tasteful. Interacting with your family gave us hope for the world we live in today that sometimes is questioned for its integrity and compassion. You have both. Traveling on business can be stressful especially with other non working family members in tow. Did you enjoy Aztec Ruins as well? Thank you!

Farmington is certainly no destination spot, but the Silver River Adobe Inn on the outskirts of town is the perfect layover place if you’re traveling through. My boyfriend and I stayed there a night while we were touring around the area. We enjoyed a nice walk along the river’s edge as the sun was setting. Had a wonderful tour of the library and exchanged some worthwhile titles with one of the inn keepers. A cozy night of sleep. Up early for a lovely breakfast overlooking the river. Then, one of the best parts of the trip ensued. We engaged in a 4 hour conversation with David and David. The words that were shared gave us so much more purpose and perspective for our driving tour. Honestly, it was one of the more stimulating conversations that I’ve taken part in, in quite some time. Like I said, this is no destination getaway, but is an ideal lay over on a road trip, or if you happen to be in the area. Our time there and our words shared were meaningful and memorable.

Our breakfast time with guests is our reward. It was early in our B&B experience that we chose to describe our breakfasts as "Salon" style, for the conversations lead to all sorts of discoveries for us the owners and we hope for our guests. David has an eclectic mind and is able to address almost any topic. David's knowledge of our local geography and travel possibilities seems endless. Early on in our relationship David would see a landscape in film or on television and remark that he drove that road in 1974, or some such. I thought he was nuts, but through the years have come to realize he does recognize landscape and remembers when he drove in a particular part of the country.
David 's degree is in anthropology which covers about any subject and requires a sense of curiosity. He studied for a bit with Margaret Mead at UC Santa Barbara.
Diana brings to the table not only the breakfast but the history of Farmington, knowledge of Navajo Rugs and various experiences living abroad.

My husband and I stayed at the Silver River Adobe Inn for two nights. Our room had a neat little fridge and microwave in an alcove and a cool tiled shower.

It was a little tricky to find at first but once we figured out the trick of getting in by way of the brand new fire station next door, everything was fine.

Loved the comfortable room which had a little patio outside with a river view. Breakfast by Heidi, who also runs the bookstore/coffee shop Andrea Kristina, was great. So is the bookstore!

Definitely recommended.

The 14,000 square foot Fire Station is rather a beacon pointing towards our B&B. The fire station is built on land which had been David's Uncle Gene's apple orchard before the highway was built through the center of the orchard in the 60's. In 2011 we added the MacDonald Cottage to our available accommodations. This cottage was built by Gene's mother in 1919. Gene began planting the orchard in the early 1930's.
Both the Cottonwood and Juniper room showers feature marble titles for the walls of the shower with glass block windows to let is natural light.
It fills me with contentment to witness our guests sitting on the covered porch to watch Ol' man River flowing past, on towards the Colorado River and Lake Powell.
