“A Night at the Palace”
Reviewed October 21, 2007

We spent one night here on a weeklong trip to New Mexico. The first glimpse from the road was a little deceiving - the Inn is towards the back of the property in a commercial area. But once we entered the garden that leads to the main building of the inn, and later saw our room, we realized we were in for the highlight of our vacation. The room was huge - more like a suite. And the decor with all of the tile and handcarved furniture was really something special. All of the staff were so friendly and hospitable, offering suggestions for restaurants and places to see in the area, that we felt very much at home. And the breakfast we had before leaving was wonderful - delicious chile burritos, fruit, and tasty homemade bread. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to this area. My boyfriend labelled his pictures of this inn "The Palace."

This is a wonderful place. We had high expectations given the great reviews, but those were exceeded on arrival. The proprietors are some of the most gracious people I've ever met. The room was exceedingly large, the property exceptionally clean and well maintained. There was a great breakfast. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. Trip Advisor needs a special higher standard for places this--it rates a 10!

I have stayed at the Inn at the Delta in Espanola for work trips for three nights over the past several years. It's back from the main road and not much to look at on the outside, but the staff takes care of all your needs, the morning breakfast is traditional New Mexico and not to be missed, and the rooms are quaint and much cheaper than any B&B of equal quality in Santa Fe. Espanola is about 25 minutes north of Santa Fe and is known as the "low-rider capital of New Mexico." The town isn't much to shout about, but with its proximity to Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Taos, its location is great. I've stayed in three different rooms there over the years and they are all massive and have old Spanish tiling, beautiful wood beams in the ceiling, fireplaces, fold-out couch beds, Spanish-style rugs, table and chairs, armoir, and TV. The bathrooms are huge as well, with jetted tubs. Inn at the Delta is a great place to stay and I always recommend it to friends when they come into town. My one qualm is that the parking lot is dirt so it sometimes gets muddy when it rains or snows.

  • Liked — Huge, quaint bedrooms.
  • Disliked — Parking lot was muddy.

The Inn at the Delta was recommended to me by another Trip Adviser contributor and we stayed at it with another couple for 10 days from 29 April - 09 May 2007.

The owners, Dolores and Emery, could not have been nicer and more helpful and their staff are fantastic. "Make yourself at home" they said, so we did ! Lots of helpful advice about where to go and what to do and a real effort to give us the kind of 'English' breakfasts we are used to (though one of the Kiwis did manage a burrito every morning but that's Kiwis for you!!)

All in all this is a great place to stay in New Mexico and we would commend it to everyone.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms
  • Disliked — Nothing was a problem for us though our friends would have preferred two Queen beds rather than one and there is certainly space for this.

In our travels, we have stayed at many B&B’s, but this was the first we’ve stayed at that not only surpassed our every expectation but also included something we didn’t expect such as beautiful architecture, handcrafted furniture and museum quality artwork. We had a large (700sqft) room, with queen bed, fireplace, jetted tub and a great on site restaurant. It was an exceptional value and had a conveniently located fabulous golf course which was important to us. There were also two nice casinos very close by if wanted. This town is also surrounded by several different Native American Pueblos within a short proximity which we did not visit but may be of interest. We have stayed in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Taos and this is the best value. Family owned, family feel and so helpful in every way! Would return! Anyone considering a day, a week or even a wedding or reunion would not be disappointed!

Having just come from three nights in Santa Fe at the El Dorado, we were expecting a come-down, given the town and what we saw from the road. But immediately we were surprised by the beauty of the inn, by the warm welcome - and when we were shown to room 6, we both gasped. The room was huge, immaculate, and beautiful. No plastic, no nylon: just handmade tile, carved wood, native rugs. The breakfast was superb. Amenities were all one could want, including a powerful WiFi signal. We spent two nights and will be back for more. This was our best stop in New Mexico, by far.

Our stay at the Inn at the Delta in Espanola N.M. was an exceptionally pleasant experience. The room was extremely spacious, spotless, decorated with authentic Southwest hand carvings and pottery, and had every amenity that we desired. The owners personally welcomed us and were outstanding in their graciousness and hospitality. The complimentary breakfast every morning was home made and delicious. We were pleased with everything about our stay, and were amazed at the extremely reasonable room rates. The Inn at the Delta is an outstanding hotel and we highly reccomend it to anyone staying in the area. We'll be back!
