Good and authentic.
This restaurant gets rave reviews on Trip Advisor, so we had to try it last week while we were in Taos. Big mistake. It is average at best and really nothing special. The crowd is a mix of local and tourists, and while I didn't mind the do it yourself ordering, the food did not live up to expectations. I would not eat there again - there are much better places in Taos to eat.
fresh mexican (ie not new mexican) options - fast and good!
No nonsense, order at the counter, cheap prices, wide variety of basic Mexican fare, serve yourself chili, lemon and lime slices, find a seat and the waitress soon brings you a heaping plate of hot fresh food. This is the place to come and enjoy a good meal and a break from high pressure, overpriced tourist traps.
We have visited the Guadalajar Grill (North) several times. The food is always fresh and extremely tasty. The service was excellent even though you order yourself at the counter, there was special attention to every detail of your meal. In addition, the last time we visited they had live music. It is obvious that this is a place that many locals frequent. If ever I want Mexican food, Guadalajar's Grill is the place for us.
