It is beautiful and peaceful. I have only been there as a day visitor and I would love to stay overnight.

It is a great place for hiking, camping, boldering, or photography. The sites are tucked in the rocks so most are very private.

We camped here with a view out of our window of unbelievable rock formations just a short distance away. If you plan to camp here and need electric hookups, call ahead for a space - they do reserve most RV spaces, and may be full if you just drive in. Lots of no hookup tent spaces and some will accomodate RVs. The best view is to hike in and around this amazing jumble of rocks. The trails are easy to moderate, and you need not stay on the trails. Just wander througn the rocks on well used paths, and since it's on a hill any route downhill will bring you to the park road that circles the entire "City of Rocks".

Nice campsites, very well done visitors center with great, well informed workampers. We will be back next month for at least a week.
