The restaurant and bar only take cash! didn't know that.
-The potato soup was the best Ive ever had, the BLT was good also. Wide selection of food on the menu
-we had a blast at the bar. There was kareoke and all the locals we met there were so fun and nice. We closed the bar down with them!

This is a dark and noisy place, with plenty of rustic local mountain color. If you like the cozy pub scene, this place is not for you, but for a quick bar-and-grill meal and beer or a late-night shot, you could do worse.

Always a great, friendly atmosphere and the food is very good. We go fairly regularly and they are always willing to take 'bespoke' orders (fried tomatoes and fried mushrooms...). The Western omelet is excellent and the hash browns are always cooked to perfection.

Colleague & friend Jerry and I took a "small" motor tour, retracing some of my intended Spring Biketour route. We went off-road just North of Dell City, onto 100miles/160kms of Stumpjumper-worthy gravel road. In fact, the road was exceptionally difficult motoring, especially without 4WD! However, by the time (late afternoon, following a mid-morning start) we arrived in CloudcroftNM, we were ready for a good meal. Of several possible eateries, this was our best choice but I was leery of a tourist trap-it is a cafe, too. How mistaken I was! Our super-friendly waitress, Crystal, was superb and knew everything to be known about the area as well as the menu. Soon after our arrival, locals began to flood into the small space, each with particular desires that Crystal seemed to already know, handily greeting & meeting every customer like old friends, which they probably were. Our delicious fried chicken dishes were preceded by house salads, while we drank a barrel of iced tea, and satisfied our gnawing hunger. Though not bicycling, I ate like it, snarfing down the salad, corn, bread, chicken, tea, and anything else I could get into my mouth. This turned out to be a much needed, much appreciated eatery. I highly recommend it; just tell'em "Juanito" sent you!

No complaints, but did not blow us away. Our family of 6 had a late lunch here. Service was good, serving size was big, food tasted good. They had CNN blaring on the big screen in the background for the locals to watch. The show was detailing a rape case, which was not much fun to have to listen to with the family while on vacation. Restrooms were in the bar, but seemed reasonably clean. Total cost for 6 big meals including a 20% tip was $70 (no alcohol). So it is very much a local, small town hang out. Nothing bad, just nothing special.
