Hot food, home-style cooking, and a wide variety of menu items. All served up fresh in a small-town diner with a small-town atmosphere. Take some time to look at the pictures and plaques on the walls; that will give you a flavor of Cloudcroft's history. Prices are $8-12 per plate. No telling what the special will be - apparently, nobody knows but the cook until the day of - but it will be a crowd pleaser.

Due to the stellar reviews this place received, I was determined to try this diner- and I wasn't disappointed! It's a cozy little joint, very homey with green gingham booths and western decor on the wall, with country music playing. The chips and salsa were excellent- nice warm chips and chunky homemade salsa with lots of cilantro. Enchiladas were delicious. A winner!

Cloudcroft was quite a change after visiting White Sands, a short drive away. This was a welcome change of pace from Alamagordo. It was obviously a local's place, in fact there was a local party going on while we were there. But it did not distract from good service a decent food. The green chili stew was as good as any we had found in New Mexico... and there are a lot of places for that!! The large salad was OK, nothing special, but honestly you don't go to a place like this for salad.

Place is always busy, filled with locals and tourists. It's not fancy, don't expect it to be fast. The food is good, nothing fancy. Had the brisket sandwich, came with slices of bread when I was expecting a wheat bun. When it's busy the staff does pretty well, they were always pleasant when we nagged them for more drinks, napkins, plates, etc.

It's a family place, I didn't see that alcohol was available.

Fried pickles and jalapeno/onion sticks were pretty darn tasty. Didn't get a chance to try any of the desserts, wish I had room.

Portions are moderate depending on what you order.
