“I Wanted to Go Back The Next Day”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Leaving Santa Fe, driving thru Tesuque to Chimayo we had high expectations of discovering a treasure. Rancho De Chimayo turned out to be a gem. Their Prickly Pear Lemonade was great, not too sweet, but just right. All of our food choices were very tasty. The owner stopped by to greet us upon arrival and while we dined. We had wonderful service and enjoyed sitting under the trees, under an umbrella on the upper patio. It was very relaxing. We will be Back!

“Take a Drive North to Chimayo!!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Rancho de Chimayo is an institution that has please its' customers for over 50 years. We love going here for the drive, food, service and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is Mostly Northern New Mexican but also has American dishes that are not spicy! Their service is excellent. The gift shop is worth visiting for unusual chile gifts, and sundries!!! Worth the drive from Santa Fe about 30 minutes,

“Wonderful”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Friends raved about this restaurant and we drove quite a distance from our stay in Santa Fe for dinner. It was worth every mile! Food authentic and tasty and we enjoyed it very much. Service a little sporadic, but the food was with it. My Tostada dinner and husband's Green Chile Stew were exactly what we wanted and expected. Perfect sopaipillas.

“Major attraction? The Ambience. Period”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

It's the only restaurant on the High Road to Taos and is in a charming location, so it's a logical stop for tourists and locals with visiting family. It also used to be a solid and dependably good restaurant, but ambience is now the only reason to stop there. The food has become mediocre (how can carne adovada contain tough and dry pieces of pork?). Service is friendly but provided by well-intentioned amateurs. Front-desk attitude seems to one of indifference. We called two hours ahead for reservations for 7 people at 6 pm on a weekday and were told nothing would be available until 7:30. We took a chance anyway -- and were seated immediately, with plenty of other spots available. Does anybody there know what's going on?

“Still first rate”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

There are very few restaurants about which one can say "it hasn't changed in 40 years" and intend it as a major compliment. Rancho de Chimayo is one such place. Carne Adovada is succulent, Chiles Rellenos are fresh made and crispy, the red chile sauce is amazing, and the sopapaillas are still No. 1 in the Santa Fe region. The restaurant ambience has to be experienced - to describe it comes short. A large, terraced Ranch style eatery in the New Mexico countryside. Service is professional, if a little stiff. This restaurant is a must. We've been eating here for forty years, and will return as long as we come back to Santa Fe.
