The location has very good energy. You don't need to be Catholic to visit.

“Wonderful Little Church!”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

What a beautiful structure! The drive alone from Santa Fe to El Santuario de Chimayo is worth the visit! I would recommend visiting in the late afternoon in order to see the church prior to sunset...a photographers' dream! Regardless of your religious beliefs, there is a sense of peacefulness and serenity when you enter the church. Visiting the small room with the hole in the floor (where you can collect a small sample of "holy dirt") is a truly unique experience.

“worth a stop”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

Along the High Road from Taos to Santa Fe. An interesting stop in a very small village. Miraculous dirt or not. We enjoyed the El Portrero Trading Post and learning about chili powders, too.
