“Typical B & B”
Reviewed October 10, 2011

Nice hosts, but this is a typical B & B establishment. Price is a little steep for the accomodations. Only one other place in Chama that I would recommend staying. This is nice, but certainly NOT a rave.

We recently spent two nights at the Parlor Car. They were very enjoyable and comfortable. The home was lovely and our room was great. The breakfasts were delicious! Bonsall and Wendy are so knowledgeable about Chama and the train. They were full interesting information about the area. We would definitely stay there again.. I have already recommended it to several friends. Rox and Sherrie

Wendy and Bonsall’s Parlor Car Bed and Breakfast provide very comfortable accommodations in Chama, New Mexico. You’ll probably be coming to Chama to ride the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. How nice it is that the B and B is located directly across the street from the railroad’s entrance.

Wendy will greet you at the door and make you feel like you are her only guest(s). Immediately you’ll notice how nicely their home is decorated. We stayed in the Harvey room with its private bathroom located a few steps down the hall. This was not an inconvenience to a couple of seniors.

Bonsall served Wendy's delicious breakfast and both of them shared lots of information about
the Chama area, including the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad excursions.

The entire home is filled with pictures, paintings and a wealth of books. The spacious sitting room adjacent to the breakfast area is very comfortable and invites you to explore the numerous books about the area.

Study their website and other Trip Advisor ratings and then call Wendy to help you choose the room that best accommodates your needs.

Where do I start?
The food, the beautiful room? NO- it was the bed- it was SO Amazing we had to find out what kind of mattress it was!
Wendy and Bonsall were most hospitable, and the breakfasts - yummm! And I had to compliment her on the amount served too. Some B & B's serve way to much for our liking.
Our day was going to be spent riding on the train, so her portion sizes were perfect.
We stayed in the Pullman Room on the ground floor.
Oh- and the BEST part was that it is located RIGHT across the street from the train station. So if you are planning to ride the train this is the PERFECT location for you.

The B&B was great. The rooms were furnished beautifully, the breakfast was delicious, but most of all we enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of the hosts, Wendy & Bonsall Johnson. When our grandchildren are ten years old, we take them individually to ride the Cumbres and Toltec train. This year four turned ten, so far we've made three trips and stayed each time at the Parlor Car B&B. They really made our granddaughters feel very special engaging them in conversation, giving them food to feed the deer, and asking to see their photos. We'll be going back with another granddaughter in September. We're looking forward to staying at the Parlor Car B&B again.

A very charming B&B with a very gracious hostess and host. The room was very nice and breakfast was excellant. A great place to stay if you're going to enjoy a train ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Railway. Thanks Wendy & Bonsall for a lovely stay.

We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by hosts, Wendy and Bonsall Johnson. The Johnson's are gracious, personable and very informative hosts. They have great information abut Chama, the surrounding area and their home. Of special interest to us was the history surrounding the C&T railroad and geology of the area (Bonsall is a volunteer docent for the C&T ride). Their home is across the street from the rail yard and an easy walk to the statiion for boarding. Their home is original Victorian, extremely clean with essential modern amenities. The afternoon in-room snacks and pillow chocolates are a special treat from Wendy. Afer a very relaxing and comfortable nights' sleep, we were treated to an exquisite breakfast. Wendy is a great cook and sets a beautiful table. We highly recommend the 'Parlor Car' as a home away from home if you are traveling in the Chama area.

Room Tip: Each of the rooms are unique, all are quiet. One has a high bed and small bath, one has large bath...
