Nice quiet water with careful helpful guides.I'd barely canoed and never kayaked previously. Toasted marshmallows over a warm campfire at the end.

We were lucky enough to be in town when Mike was able to offer one of their sunset canoe floats. Mike and Isaac were top notch! Even though we had one person in a kayak who had no experience, Isaac was so patient with her. Before long, she was leading the pack on the river! The float was wonderful and the scenery along the river was beautiful! The campfire with snacks and smores following the float was the icing on the cake - just amazing! We would definitely recommend Quiet Waters Paddling to anyone wanting to take a canoe/kayak float on the Rio Grande.

We have gone paddling with QW on several occasions and are always completely satisfied with the service they provide. We usually bring a group of guests from out of state or foreigners, so that they can experience the beauty of the Rio Grande river in a safe, peaceful, and user-friendly way. Mike and his staff provide the kayaks or canoe, the transportation to the area where we put in to the river and back to our cars, and a knowledgeable guide. The river is very gentle in our area, with few challenges, but for first time kayakers (or canoe paddlers) it meets our needs. They also offer other options to go out independently or take special trips, but we haven't tried that yet. The day starts with a safety briefing and video, handing out the gear, and then we are shuttled to the place up-river where we put it our boats. Along the riverbanks, we often see heron and other water birds. At the end of the trip, they provide a nice snack tray of cheese and fruit and then a ride back to the parking lot. We have enjoyed our trip every time. Mike is a entrepreneur who has created a delightful experience for paddlers. We enjoy his service and are glad to support our local business enterprises.

We had wanted to go on a guided tour but with only 2 of us going & having experience with a canoe, Mike recommended a self guided trip. This was our 1st time in kayaks. Mike & Isaac pointed out things to watch out for & made suggestions on how to navigate the river. Wow! How peaceful our trip was. Seeming all the different types of birds, seeing fish jump & just basking in God's glorious day could have been enough, but when we heard a Native American flute off in the distance, that made the day. We will be back.

We booked a kayaking trip for the family while on vacation in New Mexico and I would have to say that it was the highlight of the trip. The owner Mike and guide Steph were very capable and provided a high quality kayaking experience. During the whole experience I felt safe and as though my children were in good hands as well. I would recommend a trip with Quiet Waters for any novices wanting to learn how to canoe or kayak.
