“Beautiful Views”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

We stayed here one night in January and since it was off-season there was only one other group staying there. We had a lovely view of the Dzong from our balcony, It was quite cold, and the bathroom was freezing, but there was hot water. Wifi in the lobby. Good food. No TV in the rooms.

You stay here for the views of the fortress and valley. Hands down, the best. The rooms are also spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful and the food was pretty good. You are very close to town and there are also a few hikes you can do right behind the the hotel.

This resort is simply beautiful. After a long 8 hour drive from Thimpu it was very welcoming with an amazing view of the Dzong and town. Dinner was also very nice as well. No TV in the room so can be a bit quiet

It's one the best place to stay in Tronga. We stayed here one night and it was one of the best part of my tip. The resort was wondeful. The rooms were big and warm. Every room had a small balcony. One can have a good view of trongsa town and Trongsa Dzong. The reception staff Mr. Mohan prasad and the restaurant staff were really kind and friendly. The restaurant staff arranged candle light dinner and it was extra ordinary!!! We didn't have pork and beef so they offered us fish insteat and it was so thoughtful of them.

They gave banana as dessert for lunch and we didn't like it. It seems they noted it and they told me that they have arranged Indian sweets for our dessert during dinner. I was just amazed at their service. They have a good wi-fi connection in the reception area. They also provide heaters for the people, who use wi-fi in the reception area. If I ever get a chance to visit Trongsa again, I would really opt for this resort again.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms which face the Trongsa Dzong

The Yangkhil Resort is making an effort to be more upscale. It has a pleasant dining room with views, provides candles at dinner making for a romantic setting, and offers good food. The roasted potatoes were delicious. Our room had a terrace and large windows with wonderful views of the valley, a large bathroom, plenty of room for our luggage, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was chilly that night so we used the in-room heater before we went to bed. Breakfast was delicious with made-to-order eggs, etc.

There was a huge patio off the main hotel where you could be outside and enjoy the views.

The only minor negatives at the Yangkhil were that it is too far to walk to town (and you wouldn't want to anyway on the narrow, busy main road), the public bathrooms were not clean, and we didn't have Wi-Fi in the room. Also it was difficult to get online in the lobby because the hotel seemed to be fully booked with everyone trying to get on at the same time early evening.

We enjoyed our recent stay at Yangkhil. Our room was comfortable for our family and the grounds of hotel are very pleasant. The view across to Dzong is lovely, although I prefer to stay in closer to Trongsa town (this one is a drive away from Trongsa). The food was very good and service good in restaurant. Wifi works well in reception but not in rooms or restaurant.

This is the only upper end hotel in Trongsa. It's located away from the town yet has views of Trongsa dzong and the river valley below. The rooms are clean and spacious but accessing them can require a bit of a hike as the rooms are located on a terraced hill away from the office/restaurant. Carry a flashlight as you'll need one, and especially so for power outages.

Room Tip: If walking is an issue, request a room as close as possible to the restaurant.
