“Relax in the serenity along the river Mo Chu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

The location of this Resort is awesome. It is just next to the Mo Chu river. Ensure you book a room in advance as the river view rooms are very much in demand. It is a perfect location to sit back and relax. The rooms are clean and tidy. The river rafting expedition can be made to finish at the Resort, so you can enjoy a drink after the adventure. The food, however, is not something that I would not vouch for.

Room Tip: Try and choose a ground floor river facing room.

I reflected my concerns before going as I had read the reviews on Tripadvisor to my agent who assured me the hotel was not dirty. She was right: it was filthy. Service matched the cleanliness level: we had 2 light bulbs which had blown in the room. We informed the staff. The light bulbs were not replaced in the 2 days we were there. The dining room was also full of flies which made eating a bit stressful. The Internet was dodgy and only available in the public areas. That said the setting was beautiful: shame about the upkeep and the staff.

Room Tip: Our room 206 was big but a bit decrepit.

The room was more than acceptable at this hotel. The food was o.k. but nothing special.
The real downside of this hotel is that the town of Khuruthang, where it is located, is just not very nice so, after a brief walk through town, we retreated to the hotel for the remainder of our one evening here. On the plus side, we were able to sit outside facing the river in later afternoon and early evening while we had a couple of beers.

I was in Bhutan in November, 2012 and thought this was one of the better hotels where I stayed. I was sharing a room and we each had a large, comfortable bed in a large room. The view was nice and the staff were nice as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the river. The ground floor rooms have a door to the grounds as well...

This was the worst of our Bhutan accommodations. Oddly, it is owned by the royal family and falls below most Bhutan standards that we saw. The rooms are very basic and very worn. The beds are horribly hard. The food was average. The setting on the river was lovely but the town is very dirty with absolutely no attractions. A disappointment.

Room Tip: I hear the rooms on the river side are nicer...

If you look at the attached photo of this hotel, you would see the best feature instantly - i.e. outside with the flowers. I hear that the owner is busy building a new hotel to replace this one because of the perennial fear of flooding. He is letting the condition of this hotel slip with no intention to sell. One day, I expect that it will simply fall to the ground and people will stop coming here.
The rooms have not been painted or repaired for an unimaginably long time. Mine was small with a mini-fridge that was not plugged in (perhaps no plug could be reached without the fridge being in the way of everything). Bathroom had electrical outlets (nonGFI) dangerously close to shower sprinkler. Food was absolutely horrible. Breakfast had cardboard cold toast that was inedible, intermediate boiled egg, unidentifiable juice. Packed lunch had egg again, cheese (processed) and a moderately tasty chicken with sauce but no utensils packed with it. I won't go into the dinner. Cold plates, lukewarm food, variety limited.
Enough said. Stay anywhere else but here.

Stayed here for two nights while touring Bhutan
Our room was large but was in the central block over the reception area which amplified all the noise in the lobby. There is no bar area and they try and get you out of the restaurant by 9pm so the lobby is the only place for people to socialise - we had to ask people to quieten down so we could sleep
The shower fixture was broken and the toilet did not flush properly. They provided a kettle but no tea or coffee (luckily we had our own). The hot water also ran out one evening
The food was buffet style with limited choice I am vegetarian and other hotels provided a individually cooked vegetarian option for me but this was not forthcoming so I had no choice at all (rice and green beans)
There was said to be no internet access but when I kicked up a bit of a fuss they plugged in a modem and it provided access in the vicinity.
The location is attractive, by the river and there is a small monastery opposite which was very peaceful but overall a disappointing experience
