when you travel in bhutan ask apecific for this lodge.
very beatiful place, very nice rooms , The only problem was a smell of mustiness in some rooms. Food is very very good, Fresh grounded coffee and the biggest selection of tea from Bhutan India and elsewhere.
The owner who was the governor try is best to welcome you and to share is knowledge with you. We had very good time and learn a lot. Certainly we will come again. Thank you Dasho

Room Tip: ask for the rooms with view

We asked to stay here because of the raving reviews on Tripadvisor. I wouldn't say I was as ecstatic as most reviewers but it was definitely a good experience. As others have noted, breakfast in particular was terrific, and the rooms are comfortable (although not very warm). The Dasho is certainly very welcoming but maybe a bit overbearing after a while.

Run by a father-daughter duo, Jakar Village Lodge practices the concept of "playing host" to the visitors perfectly. Excellent facilities, great food and the time and effort taken by the owners to make the guests feel at home is worth repeat visits.

Despite arriving at the Jakar Village Lodge late in the night, we were warmly greeted in the cold February night by the owner and his team. They quickly settled us into our rooms and then guided us to the restaurant in the lodge when the electricity in the village went out.

Our trip through Bhutan was definitely not during the tourist season. We had the entire lodge to ourselves and yet we didn't get the impression that the owners scrimped on anything. Despite the lack of electricity in the village that evening we were treated to a incredible, warm Bhutanese dinner by candlelight.

Woke up next morning and despite the momentary lack of electricity the prior evening, enjoyed a steaming hot shower. Then went for a stroll around the grounds and a look at the beautiful Bhutanese architecture of the lodge itself. After another incredible meal which included steaming buckwheat pancakes (so good!) we relunctantly left this oasis of calm and comfort and hit the bumpy roads of Bhutan.

But it wasn't the last we would see of the Jakar Village Lodge. I left my camera charger in my room, discovered only after being an hour on the road. Instead of having to head back to the lodge, the owner himself showed up in another village to give me back my charge. Talk about incredible service! I would go back in a second.

Stayed two nights at this excellent hotel during our tour of Bhutan. This was one of the
best hotels we stayed in on our 14 day trip. The service and facilities were fantastic.
We found the food and cleanliness to be of a very high standard. The hotel was built on
a traditionally Bhutanese style with a lot of atmosphere. The proprietor, Dasho Lhendup,
was particularly welcoming and could not do enough to ensure our visit was a pleasant one -
Dasho personally supervises all aspects of his establishment. He is not intending expanding
his business when the new airport opens - concentrating instead on continuing to provide a personal service. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
service.

Room Tip: see the owner. The room we had was excellent.
