“Excellent Bhutanese style guest house”

Fantastic character and friendly staff mark this hotel out.
You cannot compare to Uma or Taj, that would be unfair. This s a rally nice guesthouse with fantastic features. The wooden stoves in the room are excellent and the staff only too happily to light them on demand.
The rooms are a great size. Pleasantly, if basic, decorated, with a seating area to enjoy a beer bride your romantic fire.
The staff are all really friendly and happy to help.
The food is basic, but breakfast in particular, was really good.
The dining room is rustic, but has a huge wood burning stove for heat which was superb.
Finally, nice gardens and traditional painted architecture make this Worth visiting.

First thing-there is no reception desk. If you need something you go to the bar in the dining room. The service is good but also not western style. The rooms have wood stoves for heat. Several people complained that people were coming into an occupied room uninvited to start a fire, or asking for a tip for the service. The bathrooms have been remodelled but the fit and finish is not quite up to western standards.
The food is good. Be sure to try the buckwheat pancakes and the yak cheese.

If you want to stay in a traditional Bhutanese building, this is the place to be. Staff are friendly and there's even a nice cosy fire stove in the lounge / dining area where tourists are welcomed. The rooms are spacious and we were luckily given the largest room upon our arrival. The bathroom was disappointing though as it was poorly lighted. Having stayed at Uma Paro and Zhiwaling, we were 'unprepared' - bring your own amenities - soap, shampoo and conditioners - we forgot and our guide had to get these for us in the evening! Food served in the dining area is pretty westernized, we asked our guide to request local food (chilli cheese and buckwheat noodles) - they weren't as good as the ones we had in Paro but not bad. Good location and near the valley, we enjoyed a nice 2 hr walk back to the temples in the morning.

Set a little distance out of Jakar, this hotel has very good facilities with spacious rooms and an adjacent sitting room area. Good bathrooms, lots of storage space. Some rooms have TV. Rooms are contained in double story stone villas. (2 downstairs apartments, further 2 upstairs).

Wifi and Internet access available but rel expensive for short time periods (5ngl / minute). Can also pay 100 NGL / day for wifi which may be better value.

Very quiet at night.

Food reasonable variety. Staff helpful, but fairly impersonal and overall lack warmth. More of a 'big hotel' feel.

Comfortable hotel. with private fire stoves....that makes your stay comfortable and romantic. Rooms in the 100 series are larger with higher ceilings All rooms have a fire stove that keeps you warm and makes for a cosy corner.
The location which is away from the town has the good side of it being quieter.....next to the Palace which is nice. Staff helpful..but food is the staple fare. Very relaxing after a long day on the winding un ending roads of Bhutan.
Bath room is simple but very functional with almost instant hot water and good aeration .
Worth the money they charge

Room Tip: Take a room in the 100 series...bigger and better

Located just outside the town of Bumthang, this hotel is a rather unattractive motel-like structure on the outside. However, on the inside the rooms proved to be comfortable and spacious, styled in a minimalist with way (which I like) with hardwood floors, a cast-iron wood-burning stove in the middle of the room, and beds made up with white linen. There was also a sitting area with cushioned benches and a small balcony with a table and two chairs. The only let-down was the bathroom, which was equipped with a rather poor shower with practically no water pressure and an extractor fan which sounded like a jet engine starting up.
The restaurant offers the same formula as most tourist hotels in Bhutan: a buffet served in a large, well-lit dining room. Noteworthy was the spectacular, and rather incongruous-looking chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
All in all, the hotel makes a good effort catering to the comforts of western tourists. On request, they even provided buckwheat (a local crop) pancakes for breakfast (although they were inedible).

Wangdicholing Hotel is located above the Jakar village. The hotel is a modern typical Bhutanese building. Our room was spacious and very clean. To keep us warm during the night the manager startet the wood burner which made the room very cosy. The interior of the room is nicely decorated in Bhutanese style.
The bathroom is functional.
Our breakfast and dinner was delicous. The staff very friendly.
We would stay again at this place.
