“Fantastic Ancient Hotel”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This hotel is located in the heart of the UNESCO town of Berati. It is an ancient building that is wonderfully designed and modernized. Our room had its own private garden and lovely view over the new town. The room was lovely, with ancient stone walls, yet also had a.c.
The host and his wife are lovely. He speaks a charming language of French, Italian, and German all mixed together. He is so kind and happy and invites guests to have a beer or tea upon arrival. He also provided us with a bottle of his own Albanian wine. Furthermore, my friend was rather ill, and he was most concerned and had his wife fix an Albanian folk medicine for him. Plus, I personally, loved that he kept cooing pigeons in our garden.

The owner kindly greeted me from the mini bus I was travelling in and gave me directions to hotel. Without his help I might have struggled as it tucked away down attractive narrow passages. All the sights were within walking distance and it has a very tranquil location.

I was offered tea on arrival and shown to a lovely room with flowers by the window and a fantastic view of the river and the town on the otherside. The twin room was perfect for just me but it might be a bit of squash if they're two of you with 2 suitcases. It has TV with a few English channels. Excellent wi-fi signal in the room.

Hosts were very helpful and kind- the owner gave me a lift to the station to get my bus! They didn't speak much English but were very good at making themselves understood. Breakfast was really good- omelette, croissant, bread, homemade jam (delicious), and lots of tea.

This hotel's room is very good atmosphere, rock wall and arched window.
There is small garden, you can see panorama of city.
Of course you can use free wifi, and good breakfast.
Price is bottom, but you can enjoy to stay with very friendly stuff.

Good location in the quiet alley far from dust and chaos on the Main Street. Nicely restored traditional house with clean and comfortable rooms. The host and his wife are very friendly and helpful. Beer and coffee served upon arrival.

Hotel Nasho Vruho is a wonderful place to stay in Berat. It is reached by climbing a set of old steps and cobbles from the main road. Look for the trip advisor sticker on the large wooden door.

The rooms feel like you are staying in someone's home as the hotel is a converted traditional house with a small courtyard in the middle with lime trees growing in the middle.

The owner Nasho was very helpful and friendly (offering us a beer when we first arrived). He even waited with us so that we were able to catch the bus to Saranda.

They even make their own wine and cheese!

Room Tip: There are smaller rooms with a view of the valley and there are rooms (larger) with a nice view of t...

We were referred onto this place by one of the other hotels when they were booked out and it was a lovely little traditional style hotel. It was located on the fort side of the river, just down the hill from the fort. The owners were lovely and helped us out with our questions, even providing free of change beverages including their home brew wine (which was delicious). The rooms were clean and fairly spacious, although if you are tall, perhaps request the downstairs rooms rather than the upstairs ones (as the ceilings were a bit low for those of average to above average height). Overall this place gave a really lovely experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower level if you are average to above average height.

Hotel Nasho Vruho is located right in the beautiful, historic quarter of Mangalem. The location is central and superb, reachable on foot from all the major sights. I stayed for 2 nights here. My room was impeccable, clean and very comfortable with air conditioning. The website offers very good direction in getting there (look for a DHL sign from the main road and walk up).

It offers excellent views of the neighbouring quarter across the river in a unique, tastefully-designed setting. There is good internet connection both in the bar, and in my room. Breakfast includes toast, coffee/ tea, omelette, and very tasty home made plum jam.

Nasho, the owner is extremely welcoming (I was offered a beer upon my arrival, and was consistently offered more!). Whilst he doesn't speak much English, he made strong attempts to engage and ensure my stay was good ("Very good?" was his way of asking in English!).

Despite the language barrier, Nasho also offered me advice (by engaging another guest who speaks Italian) on how to make my connection to my next destination, even offering me a bed to rest while waiting for the connecting bus!

The city of Berat is one of the most beautiful place I have seen. Visitors finding their feet in this city should make an attempt to stay with Hotel Nasho Vruho.
