Hilton Woodcliff Lake
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Woodcliff Lake
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We chose the Hilton Woodcliff Lake for a quick Saturday Night getaway with the kids to escape the city right before New Years. The hotel was nice and had a nice pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, that is where the problem lies. We were looking for a hotel with a hot tub that the whole family could enjoy. Be aware that this Hilton does not allow any one under the age of 16 to use the hot tubs. Not even stick their feet in the tub. They have teenage lifeguards who pretty much walk around letting anyone know that they will lose their jobs if they break the rules. Understandable to most except for a 10 year old. This was a major turn-off for most of the families at the hotel that weekend. What makes it worse was that the pool was cold which was tough on the kids. If the pool was warmer that would probably have helped out. I would most likely not stay here for a family getaway during the winter months.

Dear Valued Guest of HWCL:
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay. The Hilton Woodcliff Lake welcomes families to our property and offers numerous recreational activities and facilities for all ages. We understand the disappointment that your child must have experienced at not being allowed access to the hotel's hot tub. Providing a safe environment for our guests and their children is of paramount concern to the Hilton Woodcliff Lake Team. The NJ Dept of Health requires that unsupervised use of the hot tub be prohibited to anyone under 16 years of age. As is the policy of other facilities in the area, we deem it safe practice that only guests 16 and over be given access to the hot tub. We hope you will visit us again, perhaps during the summer months when we offer a Hilton Woodcliff Lake Summer Passport, which gives our guests access to many values for all the facilities we have to offer family vacationers. We appreciate your business and ask that you please contact the Sales Office directly when making your reservation.

my wife and i stayed overnight at the Hilton.we orderd room service and spent in excess of $90 for dinner. When dinner arrived it was on a tray ,not a rolling table.which left us the option of eating on bed with our food in our laps or eating on the floor.when i asked the server for a rolling table. I was told the hotel had only 4 rolling tables and there were none availble.we were out of luck...........the food was also tasteless.

Bad follow up and customer service. Kids running up and down the hallway until 4 am keeping everyone up. Management did nothing despite 4 phone calls. Pool was dirty, and never recieved phone calls back from the staff. Had to chase them down to get a response to anything.

We just spent 3 nights there while traveling to NYC. Upon arrival there was a large wedding party in line with 3 receptionist checking people in. We didn't wait but a few minutes. Our rooms were large, clean, and ready on our arrival. They staff were all very friendly. I have never been a fan of the coffee and makers that are provided in room. They have Starbucks in the lobby. How great is that! I chose this hotel because of the pool/hot tub and the proximity to NYC. Very happy with both although I wish the hot tub was open later than 10pm. There was some late night noise from new years celebrators but nothing I wouldn't expect from any Hotel on new years. I will definitely return to stay here.

Our trip did not get off to a good start. Heavy snow on our drive down from Maine meant it was past 11pm by the time we arrived. Not the hotels fault of course, but then I was left standing like a lemon at the reception counter which was deserted, but with voices audible from somewhere in the rooms behind.. Eventually a security guard noticed my plight and came over to get staff, only to be told they would be out in a minute... finally after their gossiping was done, were we able to check in.

The room was standard Hilton fare, comfortable if a little dated, thought the big screen TV and free wifi were welcome additions. However the big problem was noise, clearly the hotel were having some form of event and even at 2:00AM sounds of merriment were clearly audible, we were on the 4th floor and im not sure if this was from downstairs or from a room somewhere down the hall, but it was not a good nights sleep.

Unfortunately this reinforces my view that its not a good idea to stay at full service hotels with ballrooms and restaurants catering to weddings and christmas parties etc, particularly on friday and saturday nights (this was a saturday..) We would have been better off saving some money and staying in a "rooms only" type hotel instead. Lesson learnt and caveat emptor.!

The experience using The Hilton - Woodcliffe Lake (Hilton-WL) for the most important day of our lives, was a spectacular one. From start to finish, the rooms in which our party occupied at the Hall/Hotel, the personnel assigned to our party, the structure of our reception and what was provided to us, and the entire staff and service were all Impeccable.
At the initial visit, during the hall decision making period, we were introduced to a woman, Loretta Fiscina. She was extremely nice and very confident and pleasant in her presentation of what the Hilton-WL had to offer. She wound up being the person handling the entire party for us- start to finish, and we could not have asked for anyone better!
As our process of elimination continued deciding halls, the Hilton-WL was not only the fairest in pricing and working with us, but more importantly, the hall was the most accommodating. They helped custom build our reception the way we wanted it, and provided little ideas and "finishing touches" to make the reception one of a kind, with maintaining my wife and I were always the center of the show.
With the effects of hurricane Sandy bearing on the bulk of our wedding guests and family, the need for our wedding to run smooth and provide a very positive moment in the lives of our party, was at an all time high. The Hilton- WL did not disappoint!
Upon our arrival, the hotel was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season- the Christmas tree beautifully lit in the lobby, the bright red accents of poinsettias lined the lobby walkways, and the holiday feeling engulfed our bridal party and guests as the funneled into our wedding reception. To our pleasant surprise, knowing my wife and I were from Brooklyn, NY, and fans of a very well known pizzeria L&B Spumoni Gardens, they had specially picked out and greeted my wedding party with Manhattan Special coffee soft drinks and L&B pizza pies. Not only was this an excellent idea, it was extremely thoughtful, and just another little tidbit that separated the H-WL from everyone else.
Loretta and staff greeted us at the door, and immediately showed our party where we could get settled. a personal bar attendant was assigned to our party and anything and everything was made available by the staff. At this time, we actually did a walk around to make sure everything was in place, as requested.
Also, we had requested after the actual wedding was over, at midnight, we wanted to continue the party until 2:30 am, with an after-party. Loretta and the H-WL provided us with a room that was beautifully up-lit, as well as after-party pickins'- such as personally hand dipped zeppoles, homemade macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, dips, ect. (once again catering to the Genre of our party's guests and where we are from).
one thing that happened to come very much in handy, and was another little great idea provided by the hall was- an extra dinner for my wife and I were sent up to our room waiting for us when the party was over at almost 3am. This may sound weird for a 3am snack, but in reality was one of the things I remember the most of the long list of things the hall provided us that were not specified or even charged to us in our "Contract". Also, a complimentary 2 room suite was provided to my wife and I, as well as suites provided to the parents of both the husband and wife.
The breakfast the next morning was also extremely well done and the choices were plentiful. It was not like some other "morning after breakfast" experiences I have had at other weddings, where the hall is just trying to wrap up your party and get your guests on their way. This B-fast included the best of the best as far as choices, and the staff, as well as Loretta (our wedding planner/maitre d/ (now) very tight family friend and confidant) were all there once again to cater to finishing out our party and see us off extremely happy!!
The party went on and it was really everything my wife and I imagined it would be. The chef, whom we met personally on many occasions during the booking process, was on point that night as well. It was told to us by a large portion of our guests, that the food was amazing, and the wedding was the best they had ever been too. The rooms were great, the service, the staff, the attention to detail and the thought that was put in to making our wedding not only a great party but a party that was dedicated to reflecting the type of people my wife and I are, and it not just being another wedding reception, but "OUR" very own "UNIQUE" wedding reception.
All in All, we give 2 thumbs up, Five out of Five Stars, and the highest marks possible, to the Hilton - Woodcliffe Lake for giving us a night, (and a morning) to remember.
We highly recommend any couple or anyone else for that matter, looking for a very important occasion- Done Right!!!!

My wife and I recently attended a group event at this facility. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful; they let us check in several hours early to allow us to participate in morning group activities and have a place to drop our luggage. The facilities seemed to be in good shape, and our room was comfortable and clean. During the banquet on Friday evening, the service seemed a bit slow, but the food was good. The only thing I would point out, for planning purposes, is that the facility is kind of a sprawling complex - your room could be quite a walk from the conference/banquet rooms. If you are planning a group activity with anyone with disabilities you may want to ask the hotel to put them in rooms closer to the activities. Overall, I was very satisfied with the facility and service of the staff and would recommend this hotel.
