We arrived at mai
House after staying 3 hectic days in HCMC so we were in need of some relaxation! The taxi ride here was only 120,000 dong and it was down a tiny rocky road! Our taxi journey was with the worst driver in the world and it wa rather stressfull so we had a giggle with the reception man!
Check in was easy and we were taken to our room and the bell boy explained all the air con etc. the garden villas Are set amount the trees and jungle type setting and so closets walk to the beach and restaurant. The bed was a 4 poster with a mossy net ready for you to use at night and there was 2 little chairs to sit outside on. The bathroom had a curtain you pull along- no door! So if u like privacy - you won't get it! Lots of toiletries here for you and comfy bed.
We had food in the restaurant and the setting is simply beautiful. The meal was lovely and reasonable for a hotel price.
The sunset on our first night was out of this world, sadly it didnt show for the next 2 as it was cloudy.
We had a massage on the beach by the ladies on the right hand side. They were very good but one lady tried to thread my leg aswell (worrying as it want hairy!) I told her no and she stopped! Apparently they try to give you all treatments. That lasted 50 mins and it was 80,000 , not bad for £2.50!
Staff were all so friendly and said hello as you passed.
Breakfast was fruit, pineapple, watermelon, mango. Fruit juice. Tea an coffee. You also ordered freshly made egg or omelette off the menu. They cooked it straight away. You can also have yogurt butt u have to ask.

Overall a lovely stay!

Mai house is a total winner! The location is superb, the rooms gorgeous, staff so sweet. We barely left the resort in a week. Unfortunately we had torrential rain for 5 of the 7 days we were here, which was a bumma, but despite the rain we made the most of the sea view from our room. Spent hours reading only leaving our porch to eat in the restaurant. The food is good enough, not an extensive menu so it wore a but thin by the end of the week but there are enough great alternatives within a short walk from Mai house. Did a trip round the south part of the island one day. The waterfall and Sao beach definitely worth the trip. Massages at aroma spa along the beach also worth indulging in. I would return to Mai house in a heart beat, it's almost perfect. A hammock on the porch / beach a bar fridge in room and a selection of games in the restaurant and perfect it would be!!! Do yourself a favor and stay at Mai house!!!

Restaurant was the best. Nice staff and exellent food from breakfast to dinner. Fan room was nice, but there were sea of ants. French manager was "the french manager from school books", was no more about him. Good clean garden and great beach.

We relocated here from our first room which was too open for me, we decided to spend a bit more but it was well worth it. Lovely room in the well maintained gardens, mossie net, small balcony to sit out on. The beach is right at the end of the resort and the restaurant overlooks the beach. I have to say the food here is divine and some of the best I have tasted on my travels, we did try venture out to other places a couple of times and was disappointed so had breakfast (included in room), lunch & dinner here most days. It is worth a trip to the night market though the food there was also amazing. Theres a little bar at the top of the dirt track on the main road that does lethal cocktails :-) We stayed a week in the end and was only planning to stay 4 days so big thumbs up!

The Bungalow does not have a barfridge and it also does not a TV. Even a simple radio is not there ! When asking for newspaper they wanted to charge me 10000 Dong for it. As the ensuite bathroom does not have a ventilator and the window in the bathrrom cannot be opened, it is impossible to escape the smell from the toilet. The cockroaches and the mosquitoes came out every night during the 4 nights we were there. The bed does not have a proper bed mattress. The mattress on the bed is just a cheap foam. Only 1 computer with internet for the whole resort and the computer is next to the receiption desk where the owner often sits and smokes and therefore you are not able to escape the smell of cigarette smoking. However, the good points are the room services and the restaurant services. The garden is very nice with palm trees and exotic flora. From the scale from 1 to 10 points, I can give this resort only 5 points and if I am back in Phu Quoc next time, I will definitely stay in another resort with TV and with a barfridge and nearer to the main village.

Room Tip: The gardenview bungalows are better than the seaview bungalows as they are cheaper, more private an...

This place is not a backpackers place at all! I would say, if you are looking to meet fellow travellers and hang out, don't come here! It's lovely, with lovely bungalows in gorgeous grounds, but it's not super sociable, in fact, it's all couples and German/french families. It's not necessary to have a sea view - the huts near to sea aren't any more special than those further away and anyway, the resort is on the sunset side of the coast, so you are probably already on the beach or at the nice beach bar when the sun goes down, not in your room. rooms are LOVELY. It's a bit of cosy luxury, basically, if you need a holiday from being a backpacker!

Room Tip: actually the huts further from sea are newer and probably nicer inside, but i really don't think...

This is a down to basics resort. Privately run and already around for at least 15 years. Known for its simple but very good Vietnamese cuisine, cosy cottages with all the amenities you wish to have, like anti musquito candles, a broom and a good large bed with musquetaire.
Internet also working fine. Room service also works excellent, even in the rain.
If you travel with babies, better take a taxi to go and do some sightseeing, the last part of the private road is not really made for strollers or buggies, but this can add to the fun.
Ah for those that look for a swimming pool, please look further, however, the beach and sea on this particular spot make well up for it !

Room Tip: 17,19 have direct view on the beach.
