Did both South and North snorkeling tours with John's Island Tours and they all went very well.Guide Coolah(?) and Guide Jerry were very funny, polite and helpful. To my preference, the trip to South was easier and more fun.

We went to snorkel at turtle island, unfriendy tour guide shouting at passengers like we would be in the army, not a holiday like feeling, then he was trying to make fun, which seemed like a bad theather play.
The snorkeling opportunity at turtle island is ok, but the corals are not very colorful anyways.
I would not recommend johns tour at all, you are probably better off with one of the other tours if you really like to go snorkeling in a reef where there is not much so see compared to Egypt, for example

This tour was $17 USD per person (our expectations were not high). They picked us up on time, our guide had good English and was eager to make sure we enjoyed our trip. The boat was good and clean, the toilet was good. We did some fishing before night fall and that was fun and most people caught something. We started to fish for squid when nightfall came, we didn't catch any but the guide and boat hands did. Dinner was good and plentiful - the squid porridge in particular was very yummy. They also cooked the fish we caught and served that. It was a really good evening - expectations exceeded - would recommend :)

We had a nice guide for the land trip but he was totally useless. what you should do is taking their leaflet, rent a motorbike and do the tour by yourself...

We went on a snorkelling and fishing trip first. Every thing went week even though phu Quoc isn't really famous for its marine life. But all in all the guide was nice and we had a good day.
Then we went on the land trip which contains the visit of a pepper farm, foods sauce factory, walking in the forest, stopping at a panoramic spot... It was exactly that. But everything lasted 10 min. When you ask more questions about the process of making fish sauce or pepper, no answer and you miraculously jump in the bus.
You could basically do all that by renting a motorbike and visit the island by yourself
