Excellent resort if you wanna enjoy the beach, good food and friendly atmosphere. Staff is very kind and helpful, bungalows super clean and convenient and the tropical garden is a heaven.
Few excursions are available to explore the island with local guides (North west by motorcycle is a must...!)

We stayed in Bamboo cottages for 3 nights. The staff made us feel welcome immediately, explaining about the free kayaks and the free drinking water in the wine bottles at reception.

You must kayak over to the small island in the bay. Snorkelling off its beach just has to be experienced.

We arrived just in time for the free cocktails, and hour were guests chat and get to know each other. what a great idea!
I have to say that I have had a few cocktails around the world BUT the long island iced tea served here is one of the best anywhere.
Our room(s) were perfect and all of the rooms will have wonderful views.
It is great to listen to the waves as you drift off to sleep.

In our room we had one stand alone fan which was sufficient to prevent the room from becoming too hot and uncomfortable at night. Mosquito nets were provided and although the bed was "firm" we all slept pretty well.

The food was generally of a high standard and there was good choice on the menu, given the remote location.
There are other places to eat in the vicinity, but as we didn't try those I cannot recommend or vouch for them.

The "resort" is mostly solar powered and they try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. But be aware that, even though the hotel staff clean up the beach immediately in front of the hotel, the areas to the sides are often littered with the ubiquitous plastic water bottles.

We really enjoyed our stay at bamboo and would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. We stayed here with 3 teenage kids - all of whom appreciated the peace - even if it was only for 3 nights!!

Highly recommended!

Room tip: All rooms are great !!

Charles V, Manager at Bamboo Cottages & Restaurant, responded to this reviewResponded April 28, 2015

Chao SurreyImp2014,

It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time with us so much here at Bamboo.

Yes, it is our concept to make sure all of our rooms have a view of the sea from the doorstep. Given that we are in such a quiet area, it’s easy for the waves to take over life’s daily rhythm.

We’re very proud of our solar set-up here and it’s been working well for about five months now. Occasionally we’re not able to provide enough energy and might have to turn it off for an hour or two during the day (when everyone is normally asleep on the beach). This has happened only a handful of times and we’ve managed to operate over 90% of the recent months in complete solar power.

The rubbish/trash on the beaches near our resort has been mentioned in a few previous comments so I’d like to address the approach we, and others, are taking to alleviate this eyesore of an issue. Two months ago Bamboo and several other resorts organized a “clean-up” of the beach and road in the main town and we were able to get around 100 people to volunteer. Last week we organized our second “clean-up” and are now making this a monthly event, focusing on different areas of the island with the intentions of cleaning/educating/raising awareness of this littering/waste management problem. We’re working diligently on getting the local community and authorities involved.

Thank you again for taking the time to write about us. We’re very thankful to receive the feedback.

Warm regards,
Charles and the Bamboo Family

PS: I agree, our Long Island Iced Tea has quite the kick to it after Ms. Tuyen, our bartender, makes it.

If you are looking for quiet, tranquil, peaceful, then...look no further. Bamboo Cottages is the right place, located approximately 25 kilometers away from the airport and the town, the area is really lovely and it has its own beach. The bungalow is quite spacious, without any frills though, you forget about civilization when you are there. There is no AC either, but there's a fan and during the dry season, there is no need for AC either. Being rocked by the sound of the waves and listening to the birds chirping early morning is my definition of "paradise". Everyone at Bamboo is helpful, kind and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is fresh, good and simple. Chef Long is obliging and has prepared me some typical Vietnamese dishes I was craving for! At the reception, Vu was great, I have to mention Tina too as well as the entire staff, including house keeping doing a great job at keeping the place clean. the available kayaks are a plus! The snorkeling around the two little islands is good. The only big regret I have is that although I find the beach so beautiful, unfortunately, there is too much "garbage" around and obviously there is no Pick up from the town, certainly because the place is too remote...that is really bad and upsetting and that needs to be addressed. It is a shame that right next to such a beautiful beach, there is so much waste and garbage!

Room tip: Practically all bungalows have some sea view, mine was right in front of the sea.

We stayed in Bamboo cottages for 3 nights, we were met with a warm welcome on arrival and decided to grab a bite to eat, the manager Charles introduced himself and seemed like a very friendly guy, he told us about the free kayaks and the water in the wine bottles (Very nice touch). There was also a free cocktail hour were all the guests can mingle and enjoy free cocktails for an hour, we thought this was a brilliant idea and the cocktails were really good.

Although our room was set back from the front, we still had amazing views from our room, it is extremely peaceful to listen to the waves as you sleep. In our room we only had one stand alone fan and talking to other guests some of the other rooms also had a wall fan, because of this at night the room does get very hot which can be quite uncomfortable. Due to the location one of us got bitten by mosquitos even though we slept within the net and lit the candle provided in the room.

We found the menu to be quite limited on choice, and sometimes the food wasn't to the best standard, but eating on the beach front with an amazing view is definitely a plus.

We really enjoyed our stay at bamboo and would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Room tip: Get a room on the sea front if possible

This is a great resort with good service. If you want to unwind and keep life simple, this is the place. Service is exceptional and the staff make you feel welcome. The food is very good. There were no mosquitos when we were there and we didn't even need to use the mosquito netting at night. Wifi worked well. The beach is beautiful with decent lounge chairs. The kayaks are a bonus. The trip out to the island is a perfect paddle.
