We had a beachfront cottage which was metres from the water. The rooms were not overly flash but comfortable and the bathroom with no roof was pretty cool. The location is very private and we relaxed by the water and swam without any hassles. The staff are amazing with a mix of English and Vietnamese native speakers, they go above and beyond in their duties. Would definitely visit again.

We booked our stay at Bamboo Cottages pretty last minute and the staff were really accommodating. The cottages and main building are so tastefully decorated, who ever has designed this place really has an excellent eye. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The resort is off the beaten path, which is in some ways is it's charm, but also means that in the evening you are kind of stuck there as the other resorts next door are not nearly as stylish or inviting. The food was good but not great and the evenings atmosphere was quite flat and by 10pm the staff were packing up the bar and I felt that we were a bit of an inconvenience if we wanted a late drink. All in all this place is really good....but it has the potential to be amazing.

Chao Abibabbie,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience on this forum. It’s great to know you found our staff friendly and enjoyed the décor of the property.

This past October, we closed Bamboo for two weeks and remodeled our main building. It was 100% team effort and it’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the aesthetics we tried to cultivate during that process.

The elevated floor in our main building is packed with hundreds of recycled wine bottles from the previous years and we tried to use as many natural/organic materials as possible when creating our light fixtures and décor. The table in the middle of our Common Area literally washed up on the beach years ago and we’re still using it daily!

Very unfortunate to hear you got the feeling of being an inconvenience to us here when you wanted to stay late in our restaurant one night. I have inquired with my night shift supervisor about this and was told he informed you that our staff was simply cleaning and preparing for the next day, but you could stay and enjoy the drinks as long as you’d like.

At the end of the day, the reality is: we are a small resort, currently on a remote beach, on an island in Vietnam… so things normally settle down quiet early in the night. That being said, we are sorry and wish you would have felt more invited to stay up late enjoying the sound of waves at your feet and gazing into the stars without worry.

Enjoy a good life, come back and see us, and thank you again for the review and feedback. It is much appreciated.

Warmest regards,
Charles and the Bamboo Family

What a great find. We loved this place, so quiet & relaxed away from the bustle of Long Beach's big hotels further South. Good food, warm water and clean beaches, snorkelling from the beach, local Vietnamese food with daily chef's specials, morning & evening yoga, outdoor massage bed, scooters for rent to explore the island and good, clean, comfortable rooms with semi-outdoor bathrooms.

Room tip: The rooms on the North side are close to a local village with a pub that booms karaoke from early dawn to late night, so request rooms in the middle / south and on the beachfront so the lapping of the water will drown any karaoke, or join em.

My wife and I stayed in this place for four nights after visiting Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. After the hustle and bustle it was lovely to escape to the island and Bamboo Cottages made for a wonderful break.

We ate all our meals at the resort. Be prepared to pay more for food here than elsewhere in Vietnam - but in my opinion it is worth it (it's also quite reasonably priced by western standards). Free drinking water too.

There were free yoga classes twice every day, and the hotel gave us kayaks which we could use to row out to an island across the bay. Plus it has more or less its own stretch of beach which is literally on your doorstep. So there is enough to do to keep you occupied.

The staff at the resort were extremely helpful and good-humoured throughout our stay. This helped create a very warm and friendly atmosphere, which really added to our enjoyment of the trip.

Minor complaints: the menu could have done with a little more variety (I'm told they are working on that so probably not an issue anymore); the beds could have been a little more comfortable; and it's a little bit isolated from the rest of the island, which may not suit some people. However the food, atmosphere and location more than made up for these in our experience.

If you are looking for a break on the beach during your time in Vietnam then it would be hard to imagine anywhere better.

Chao eoc2015,

Thank you so much for leaving us a review ☺ We’re happy that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Bamboo.

Your compliments about our food and have been passed on to our Chef and the rest of the Bamboo Family. And yes, we’ve just added a small dessert section to our menu as well as a few more main courses. Now that we have solar power, we can supply energy to one small refrigerator and freezer! Big change for Bamboo! Chef Long's first statement…“I’m going to make ice cream”.

Great to see you enjoyed the Yoga and Kayaking while with us. Lola, our Yoga Instructor will be leaving us at the end of this month. Starting the first week of February, we will have a Mediation Instructor come stay with us for a few weeks and will give lessons twice a day free for our guests.

Thank you again for leaving your review, and remember to email us directly if you would like to come back and join our family in the future.

Warmest regards,
Charles and the Bamboo Family

This was our second stay at Bamboo over the xmas holidays and, as expected, it was a welcome treat. Plenty of swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding (DIY), motorcycle trips around the island, but most importantly full-on R&R in a beautiful setting with friendly service. Rooms are lovely, simple but elegant. Looking for a place to lounge outside the tourist areas...then this is it.

Room tip: While excellent meals are served at Bamboo, you are removed from easy access to shops so bring along any of your own treats for mid-day snacking - but be nice and share!
