My boyfriend and I stumbled across Bamboo Cottages & Restaurant as we were riding around on our motorbike exploring the North West of Phu Quoc.
We were initially looking to just find a nice patch of beach to relax at, we weren’t looking for somewhere to eat.
The staff and manager were very friendly and warmly invited us in. The manager mentioned that although we were able to use the deck chairs (as we weren’t hotel guests), he had asked the staff to pull out some mattress for us to use on the beach – free of charge with no expectation of us to dine at the restaurant.

It’s a small patch of beach, but the beach front is very serene, with a lovely gentle breeze and clear waters. You also have a great view of the rest of the island stretch.

We loved it and decided to spend a couple of hours there, having a light lunch at the restaurant. They’ve also got some games you can borrow such as connect 4 and jenga, great for playing with whilst you’re relaxing on the beach with delicious bites and drinks!

The staff were all lovely, attentive but not suffocating. If we had known about this place before arriving, we would have definitely chosen to stay here instead!
Pay a visit before the place disappears due to new developments in the area!

We booked one night at Bamboo but ended up staying seven nights. If you are looking for a place to relax in beautiful surroundings with lovely staff and food this is the place to stay. It might be a bit more expensive than the surrounding resorts however our experience was that the warm athmosphere, natrural decorations and quietness was worth the extra money.

We loved our stay at Bamboo Cottages! The room was lovely, the staff was friendly, and the food was great. We loved having a beach almost to ourselves and the yoga and massages were fantastic. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind. The one thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is far from town and, really, kind of far from most everything on the island. We loved how out-of-the-way it is, but it might not meet everyone's needs. Future guests should also know that there is only electricity a few hours a day. We loved the eco-friendly vibe, but this might not be everyone's cup of tea.

My partner and I stayed at Bamboo Cottages a couple of weeks ago for two nights and it was amazing. Most of Phu Quoc is full of big resorts and gets very crowded - Bamboo Cottages was the perfect escape. It's about 40 minutes drive from the main town and feels completely cut off: very quiet, secluded beach. The white bungalows are sent in a garden of Eden style floral paradise of banyan trees, palms, hibiscus, and so many other colourful flowers and butterflies. It's just gorgeous!

More importantly the food in the restaurant is sublime - among the best I had in Vietnam. Eating by candlelight on the beach at night is a real treat. And the staff were all so warm and friendly, especially the manager, Charles, who always stopped to speak to us and passed on loads of helpful recommendations.

The resort is small and family run so it has a nice personal feel. And it's so close to Fingernail Island, which is a popular snorkelling spot: you can rent a kayak and be there in 15 minutes. Go early to avoid the crowds from the boat tours which start to turn up around mid morning, and you'll have the whole island to yourself.

Free daily yoga, massages down by the shore, beautiful scenery, amazing family atmosphere, great dogs, incredible food - the list goes on! This was honestly one of my favourite resorts in Vietnam. The perfect place to spend a few days unwinding, nourishing body and soul, and exploring Phu Quoc.

Room tip: I had a seaview garden cottage - still had excellent sea views but lower price than a beachfront cottage.

We stumbled across Bamboo Cottages & Restaurant while exploring the island. Stopping off to eat at the restaurant, we were blown away by this beautiful spot and great food!. The staff was warm and friendly and the manager even took the time to sit with us even though we were not staying there. After eating and spending some time on the beach, we found it very hard to leave. Had we known about this place before arriving in Phu Quoc we would have stayed there without hesitation.
