“You MUST stay here if you need to have relaxing time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Actually if you wanna stay at hotel equipped with modern installations you don't choose this hotel and you should go to other noisy crowded fake natures island. Coz there is no air conditioning and TV, and you can use electricity only night.
But if you need a good rest and relaxing time in your routine life this place will be perfect for you.
The room is on the beautiful beach and amazing atmosphere. Nice garden, delicious foods, great location. You can go around nature island by cheap rental motorcycle.
Also one girls staff who is fluently in English with pretty smiling is always taking care of everything you want.
Have a nice trip!

This place has stayed in our memories - mostly for the wrong reasons. We stayed here in early 2012.

Some of the issues we encountered were: no air conditioning, despite it being incredibly hot and it being advertised (at the time). There was a fan, but the generators turned off at about 11pm, leaving us sweltering. The room got overrun by ants, and while the outside attached bathroom could be nice, ants swarming everywhere made it unappealing. There was meant to be a laptop with Internet access, but the owner loaned it to a friend who was staying there for our entire stay.

Very nice location (though remote - ie expensive taxi ride); staff were friendly and food was very nice. Wanted to like it, but ultimately not for us.

This resort was a family run business that was away from the crowded resorts. The low construction at the site gave this a less 'touristy' feel. Definitely worth a visit, I will be going back next time I am in Vietnam.

I stayed at bamboo with my parents last week. When we were travelling in the taxi on the way to Bamboo we wondered what we were letting ourselves in for. We knew that it was off the beaten track but I was getting quite nervous about what we were going to find at the end of it. When we arrived any worries we had vanished as the staff came to greet us and we saw the stunning location of the hotel and the friendly atmosphere of the place.

The rooms are beautiful and tastefully done, they are spacious and clean and the beds are very comfortable. It is in such a lovely location that you can totally relax and enjoy the sea, the food is delicious and it is easy to arrange anything with the help of the staff. The best thing about Bamboo is the atmosphere which is totally relaxing and so friendly due the exceptionally helpful, lovely, friendly staff. They are amazing and the kindness and openness of the staff makes the world of difference. The communal space is great in the evenings after dinner and you can come and go as you please and enjoy everyone else's company.

They are very environmentally friendly and the electricity is turned off from mid-night to save energy which is my opinion is a very good idea. We loved bamboo and we especially love the staff. I strongly recommend this place for anyone who is not afraid of staying in an area where not all the tourists go.

Yes, Bamboo is far away from the Long Beach resort strip on Phu Quoc...and we wouldn't want it any other way. The beach and view of Vung Bau Bay is unbelievable, with little to no other people around. It was wonderful waking up each morning in a beachfront bungalow to the sound of gentle waves, enjoying fresh fruit and Vietnamese coffee for breakfast, exploring the red dirt roads of Phu Quoc on motorbikes, and then relaxing on the beach with a cocktail at sunset. The bungalows were really nice, and the outdoor bathrooms were a fun touch. Food from the restaurant is great, especially the set menu for dinner. The staff is totally awesome, helpful, and a lot of fun (they even put up with you practicing your gringo Vietnamese). Go here and you won't regret it!! Thanks for everything Bamboo, we'll be back!

We wanted to get out of the city and to the more quiet North side of Phu Quoc. It was very relaxing in Bamboo cottages, only a few other people stayed there the same time. We exdended our stay and stayed one extre night as we really liked it there. The bungalow was simple but really nice, the open roof bathroom was sooo cool. There were some ants in the room but they did us no harm. It was perfect just to relax, swim and walk down the beach in the sunshine. The food was excellent which made us not look for any other options nearby. The staff was very friendly, two of them spoke good English. A few times we had difficulties ordering food when the English-skilled girls weren´t there. The ecological way of thinking was really nice, we had no problems sleeping without a/c or fan. I would go there again if I go to Phu Quoc again.

We walked around to see the next resort which did not seem as nice as Bamboo Cottages but was a lot cheaper. 50 usd per night is a lot and I´m not sure if BC is worth the price. A nice place but 50 dollars is a lot.

If you're looking for some peace and quiet with fantastic view of the ocean that also comes with unbelievably friendly staff, then this is the place for you! We (a couple with a teenage girl, who stayed at a separate Front Beach Bungalow) stayed at the Bamboo Cottages for 7 nights and 8 days, and enjoyed every minute! I know, by reading the previous reviews, that there are some "complaints" about i) too far from the town, ii) not much of variations in menu, and iii) too hot to sleep without AC. I could tell you that the first two points are not really a problem: i) it costs around $22 U.S. dollar to ride into town, and I would say that $22 is more than worthwhile to drive into the town once or twice per week, ii) the Bamboo has updated on their menu selection, and what they offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner are just fantastic! Moreover, there are other nearby restaurants (5 to 10 minutes walk either to north or south of the road) that provide alternatives. And about not being able to sleep without AC...everyroom is equipped with a fan that runs from 6 pm to 1 am: the electricity is provided via generator, and hence the place tries to be environmentally conscious (this socially responsibility also goes for their "water bottle" program: the place encourages less use of plastic water bottles). To avoid AC critic and to improve better sleeping of guests, my suggestion to the Bamboo staff would be to shift the operation time of the fan from 6pm - 1am to 9 pm till 4 am. I think this night heat issue depends on the guests as we had no problem of sleeping with our front doors opened all night. The bottom line of this review is simply that WE LOVED this place and the staff! We would without any hesitation go back to the cottage! These are my words and my opinion...So go and see for yourself!

Room Tip: Take the Front Beach Room: costs extra $10 - 15, but worth it!
