We stayed at Khanom Hill resort for 6 nights during December 2012; It is far enough from the tourist 'beaten track' to be as close to 'undiscovered paradise' as you would get in Thailand.
Run by Thum (the Manager) and her extended family, this place is very well managed, with great attention to detail and to the guests' needs. Admittedly it is not cheap for Thailand, we paid about £75 (GBP) per night, but it is rather luxurious, we stayed in bungalow No. 5, in our opinion it is the most private, closest to it's own 'private' beach, it is immaculately clean, good A/C, a fridge, brilliant shower, good quality cotton bed-linen and towels, and the most magical view of the ocean from the bed (!). The area is quiet, not that much to do other than relax on the beach and eat in the resort's restaurant which is by far one of the best we have experienced in Thailand. They do look after you very well here, hire a moped or a car, go away for the day, dolphin watching, local markets... very helpful team. Will go back any day.

Room Tip: Go for bungalow No. 5, very private and great views.

Happened upon the place without any expectations and found the bungalows luxurious, the staff friendly, the breakfasts generous and the dinners delicious.
The long stretch of beach is beautiful and the resorts pool and surroundings lovely.
We found the Thai family that own the resort exceptionally welcoming. If only we could have stayed longer. If the peace and quiet is what you are after, this is the place to be.
You can't rely on the Lonely Planet for up to date prices.
The balconies are a great way to share Sam Song with new friends!

We visited in July 2012 and stayed in the new bungalows across the road, and what a great find this place is. Big rooms, comfortable beds, outstanding views from the generous balcony, super friendly staff, delicious thai food in the restaurant...drinks by the pool in the evening...wow. A perfect place to extend your stay and have every intention of returning. Loved it.

Small, very nice resort, uniquely located on a hill with nice ocean views and access to cliffs, large and small beach and tropical garden. Good service and extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The bungalows are comfortable and private and in the “old part” each bungalow or room is unique. The resort and Khanom offers peace and quiet and relaxation but there are also a number of sights and activities for those interested (dolphin spotting, snorkeling trips, waterfalls, weekly markets, jogging on the beach, massage etc). The team at the resort can help you with everything and even engage themselves in driving guests to the market etc. As the number of international tourist is low in the region it has an authentic feel and an extremely interested and friendly local population. The food in the resort restaurant is very good. I had a great vacation at Khanom Hill Resort and definitely consider going back one day.
