You have to rachet down your expectations for hotels, beaches and restaurants on the east coast from Don Sak to Sichon. Especially if you have just come from the more developed beach resorts like Phuket, Samui etc. But if you do that, it's definitely worth a visit and you would be happy with the Talkoo Beach resort too probably. Beachside bungalows are just on the "beachside" of the road and garden bungalows are on the other side of the road. But they are clean, good ACs, good size bathrooms and designed in a retro Flinstones kind of way and we thought great value. The pool is good if not big and affords a great view of large long clean beach and ocean. We got the feeling that we had just pulled into a themed hotel on some American highway (and I mean that in a positive sense). The included American breakfast was OK and we had no such problems of being asked to pay for extra jam or butter. We checked in late on arrival and decided to eat in the hotels restaurant. Agee with other reviewers that it is a little over priced. But, that said, we had one of our best meals in our two months in thailand here. A larb and prawn curry that were ridiculously spicey but so good and we were right on the beach so cant complain too much. There's not much else around....You have to rachet down your expectations for hotels, beaches and restaurants on the east coast from Don Sak to Sichon. Staff spoke little English (except the guy we think was the owner of manager) but they were all extremely friendly and helpful. We checked out a few hotels before deciding on the Talkoo and were happy with our choice. Not the Ritz but for 1500 - 2000 baht right on the money.More
