We live quite near Khanom and drive down quite often. The restaurant at the Supar Royal Beach used to be pretty good but our last two visits have been a poor experience. We don't know what's happened to the restaurant staff but uninterested would be an apt description.
On the positive side, the view from the beach side restaurant is stunning and for non Thai speakers, the menu is in both English and Thai which is useful. There is a good choice of food but it lacks something and doesn't compare to many Thai restaurants in the area.
The main problem was with the service. When we arrived, only two other tables were occupied so it was quiet but two of the staff were stretched out asleep and the others were more interested in their mobile phones than in serving customers. One male member of staff was either drunk or giving a very good impression of intoxication! When we managed to persuade one to put down her mobile phone and take our food and drink order, we almost felt guilty at disturbing her! The food took an age to appear and by the time my dish arrived, my partner had almost finished hers and there was no real reason for the delay. Visitors to the restaurant should note that as in many Thai restaurants, you will need to ask for ice for your drinks if you want it.
The view across the bay is fantastic though and there is safe swimming...it's a shame about the service but I doubt if we will eat there again. There are many resorts(hotels) at Khanom so it isn't difficult finding somewhere to eat.
