“Horrible place to stay - NEVER AGAIN!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

One of the most horrible place to stay. Smelly, filthy, overpriced and disgusting. The rooms are old and smell of some insect motion. Tiles on the floor reminds me of public toilets in the 80s and are slippery when wet. Bed is cranky and uncomfortable and the blanket was a miserable thin sheet of cloth. The most horrifying experience was the bathroom. The toilet bowl looked like those you find in a overused unwashed public toilet - old yellow stains everywhere. As I brushed my teeth, I couldn't look straight into the tiles, I shudder at the sight of stains and grout and the metal parts in the tap and the sink are all rusty and stuck with some unknown dirt. The shower areas uses a really old-fashioned instant heater that looks like it'll break down anytime, grout and stains are everywhere on the wall tiles.

I left after one night. Not my choice to stay there and I couldn't stand a minute of staying in the room. My partner stayed on as he felt obligated to the manager who helped gave him a good rate, but frankly with that kind of rate, we could have gotten a nice good star hotel in some other beach resort in Thailand.

Even during night time, the whole place was noisy, there's always some construction going on, staff shouting at each other, traffic buzzing by. WIFI was intermittent. The air con is not even centralized, the room uses a very old type of single unit window air con, you know how air con units can be emitting bad air after a decade of usage.

Food was average, it's not the best nor was it the worst. Pool area was less than average, it's padded with slippery tiles and if not careful, you'll get a bad fall. All in all the place is too run down to be given the title of a resort. The place gives me nightmares.

Room Tip: The first tell tale sign was the phone. There's no phone in the room when I called to speak to m...

Dont be fooled by reading the first couple of reviews as these must have been done by friends or family. The bad reviews give a far more accurate picture of this run down eastablishment. The pity about this hotel is that it could be very good as it has a great location and layout. The trouble is the management have not spent any money on updating rooms and facilities for at least 30 years. To start with the whole place is covered in 70s style stone artexing.Even the bed is solid artex with a thin mattress on top a la crypt. The bed sheets were ancient. The bathroom was falling to bits and I could believe the electricution incident of a previous review. The general standards are well below what is expected in 2012. This was the worst hotel I have stayed in Philippines.

I enjoy to go to Subic for the weekend around every 6 weeks and have stayed in many hotels in Subic. Treasure Island is a great choice. They have great wifi and that is very important to me because I always need a good for a internet connection. Nice pool with swim up bar for a cocktail or two. Rooms are average for Subic. Good food and great staff and management.

I stayed at the resort for 4 days and nights. The weekend i was there they had a floating bar party and a pool party.
I must say i had a blast. The staff at the resort were all great and i meet some real good people from all over the country. The resort overall has all one needs for a little r and r,it has a great pool and the site overlooking the water is beautful.I really enjoyed the sunrises and the sunsets. The food was great as was my room,it was cleaned and refreshed every morning.I enjoyed my conversations with staff members all made you feel right at home.I would recommend this place to anyone thinking of a trip to Subic.I for one when i return to Subic will be back.

Room Tip: If you can book a water front room, great for those morning sunrises.

Selected the resort due to the fact it had a pool, which many others didn't. There were 3 adults and our 2 young children.

The layout is very good, with the rooms at the back of the property with the pool, bar and restaurant in front, facing the beach. The car park is a little small, but they do their best to stack as many cars in as possible and the guard is very helpful. The pool has a swim up bar, which would be great except...

...service is non existent. Right from the reception down through the barstaff and waitress' nothing is done. In fact, if it wasnt for the pool maintenance guy, you would probably never get served, as he would go off and find one of them (usually chatting to each other at the bar area). To get a menu involved walking to the bar, asking for one and then waiting while they went to find one. And you never got more than one. They would give you a bell to ring when your ready to order (a little tacky... nothing wrong with paying attention) however, no matter how hard you rang it, they never responded.

The two times we ordered food we waited more than 1 hour, despite there being no more than 2 or 3 tables at the time, and when the food did come it was undercooked. We ended up eating most meals next door at Johann's, which had much much better food. In the evenings, Treasure Island would have one or two tables eating while Johanns was packed - should tell the owners something is wrong.

The rooms were very 'tired'. Beds are made of concrete with a matress on top, which was old and tatty. They lacked towels and kept taking ours when they made up the rooms, despite us telling them twice not to take them. Otherwise they were pretty clean, but a little attention to them to justify the 3100 peso per night would be nice.

When we checked in they wanted to charge extra for our 1 year old baby, as apparently, she counted as an extra person. Service at reception was verging on rude, and at best unhelpful.

Would love to know somewhere else on the beach there with a pool, but with better service. Would only go back to Treasure Island if they did something about the service, as it ruined an otherwise nice place.

Will pick Puerto Galera over Subic in the future though...

Room Tip: not really any difference between the rooms, as they are all dark (no windows!) so go for the cheape...

My family spent 3 days here sharing two rooms. Rooms were not bad as they were clean. The flushing of the toilet took a sledge hammer to do. Anytime the wife or kids needed it flushed, they called me as they couldn't push the lever down it was so hard. It even hurt my fingers to do so. Had no problems with the bar fridge but believe it should be locked and only opened with approval of adults. Experience has proven Filipino maids are not that honest. The service from the Bar and Restaurant was terrible. First day we sat for 10 minutes waiting for a waitress and finally had to ask for one to wait on us. Was only one customer at the bar at the time but 3 waitresses yaking away. If you lounge out near the beach wall, forget about service. Almost unheard of and waitresses don't bother ever checking the area. If it wasn't for the pool maintenance man you would never get service as he yells for that more than having to take care of the pool. The food, forget it. Go somewhere else and Blue Rock is a good choice. Had Lasagna one night. The ends of the noddles were burnt and the bottom layer was like solid cement. Poor tasting also. Had waffles one morning. They serve you two waffles and their cut into diamond shapes and stacked on your plate. They give you 2 cubes of butter and about a 3 tablespoons of syrup. You asked the sarcastic waitress for additional and it like "its not enough you have". We use to stay here a lot couple years ago and it was really nice with excellent help. With Joe gone now it really has gone downhill. Would not recommend the place and will not go back.

Room Tip: Go to Blue Rock.
