over priced out dated hotel needs complete revamp and updating all rooms are tired and in need of redecorating and new furniture. you get nothing extra with room price not even a bottle of mineral water which is standard in most hotels in philippines food was ok but the bbq they advertise is so expensive breakfast does not even include a tea or coffee you have to purchase extra !!!!!!!!!!!!!! staff in resteraunt very helpfull beach was ok but not exactly private open to anyone including stray dogs nothing of any interest local to visit usual street shops 20 minute ride to nearest town by jeepney no taxis to speak of and hotel transport expensive to visit attractions in subic newer hotels close by offering better ammenaties and better value for money

New management took over the resort in June 2010, and have sent considerable time, effort and money in improving the resort. As you can see, reviews form 2011 onwards are positive, and show the management team and the owner are doing it right!!

The place really sucks..if u will check it from the internet everything looks so good, but in reality its a hell.. the deluxe room looks very very ordinary...the pool they have is very small bigger than a jakuzi..the beach is the most horrible its like a dump site full of trash..and a lot of dogs are also included on the beach taking a dump..ehhww..for sure this will be our first and last visit here..make sure u will not visit this place..

I would agree that prior to 2011 the resort was poorly operated However, since 2011, when new management and ownership took over, the resort has constantly improved and evolved, and is now the No.1 Resort on Subic Bay!!

After reading a really nice review about Arizona Hotel we booked for a superior room..we were given the most expensive one after being told there's only 1 room left available. I was enticed by their "private beach" which my 2 kids wanted.
If you are planning to go to Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure, subic's most famous family attaction, dont stay in this hotel. It is very far, already outside the city and the transportation is expensive...all private vans only.
The streets outside are dark after sunset, no other place to see nearby.
The hotel room a shock...very old bed =( with matresses that are "too tired", noisy airconditioning unit that shuts down even when we were inside the room, nasty shower and bath, a small towel for a bathroom rug?, duh!!!,when we asked for another one they asked us why we needed another rug. They said they will provide mattresses for my kids and when they did...voila!!!i wouldnt dare let my kids sleep in those very old, thin foams! Nobody came to clean our room..we had to call and ask for fresh towels the next day.
Sleeping time????you could hear the voices of guests from the bar outside, really loud you would need earplugs to not hear them...and we woke up at 3am because the room was very hot & our air conditioning shut off...called reception & we were told there was power blockout in the building. after less than a minute our aircon went back on again. they were probably saving on electricity by turning off the power purposely.
Mosquitos flying in the hallway...and you have to pay for even a cup of hot water...nothing's free here except for the welcome drinks that you get when you check in.
The only good thing...there's a nice restaurant across the street that serves good food.
The Mai Tai bar and the kiddie pool are the only nice things about this hotel. Better spend your money for something closer to the city, this hotel is not cheap anyway...

After previously spending one week in the wonderful Savanna Resort Hotel, Angeles City I was quite dissapointed with the standard of the Arizona International (?) Hotel, Barrio Barretto, Subic Bay.
I booked a superior room and when I was shown to my room on the second floor my jaw dropped. Superior to what? Colditz?
It was like stepping back in time. The furniture and furnishings were old and worn. The aircon sounded like a plane taking off. The bathtub did not have running water and the shower broke down 3 times during my one week stay.
To say the least, I was not pleased at all.
Their "Score Bar" was a dive.
I'm a single male traveller and I like to spend a few hours in hotel bars enjoying a few beers and chatting to likeminded guests but for the most part I found myself and maybe one or two others sitting there surrounded by over the hill hostesses pressurizing us to buy them drinks.
Needless to say I didn't spend too much time there.
The only saving grace was their outside bar, restaurant and pool area, The Mai Tai.
Wonderful, friendly staff from the manager, Rommell and the outstanding waitresses always service with a smile and a chat.
The food was always fresh and very good.
There was always a good mix of people there including families with young children, couples, singles and groups.
I know and understand why the Arizona has a good reputation but it is in desperate need of an extensive revamp if it wants to continue competing with the growing number of new establishments that keep cropping up in Subic Bay.

I cannot comment on the smaller rooms in the hotel but I had booked a beachfront family room and it was great. Service was also great from front desk to bar/waitress and housekeeping.
All the staff are very friendly and they have some great assets in the girls working in the Mai Tai Bar.....the American owner is also a personable nice guy.
The title of "International" is a bit grand for this hotel but it is well positioned, in pretty good shape and represents great value........the food was also very good.
I would recommend it to anyone......just dont expect a 5 Star Hotel

  • Liked — The overall friendliness of everyone employed in the hotel
  • Disliked — The beer at the Mai Tai Bar sometimes was not cold enough

Well a friend of mine and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. When we arrived everything seemed ok. Where it is located is kind of questionable.... however the hotel seemed alright. The rooms were ok.... when you look at the price you shouldn't expect much anyhow. The water wasn't hot more tepid. We arrived at 11 or so and the tv, the ac, nor the internet was working. We asked the front desk and they said power would be out till 5.... Same thing the next day. No power till 5. However one good thing the cab service they provided was great. It was cheap and always on time. They have a bar that seemed nice and the restuarant seemd nice too. Maybe it was the weather or the time we went but our stay wasn't that great. It was noisy almost all night also.
