Looks a little worn down, but I loved the tiny cats around cuddling with my legs, and the food is good. Location is nice and I love that profits goes to support the elders. Worth a visit.

Grandmother/Grandfather restaurant consists of one large dimly lit by flourescent tube room and a narrow balcony overlooking Mawlamyine's Than Lwin river. Because it was late April and very hot, we chose the balcony, sitting on wooden stools at a tiny table. The Myanmar beer was cold and the vegetable tempura was freshly battered, and the price was very reasonable.

As we left, we watched two men playing chess, while checking their moves on a mobile phone!

We found the food at this place quite avarage, but what made this place nice was its location beside the riverfront. As the general qualoty of restaurants in the city seems to be quite low, this place might even though end up becoming one of the better ones.

We ate here one evening and had Chilli Chicken, rice and a green veg which I think was cress. The food was quite good in both quality and quantity but rather bland considering it was supposed to have chilli in it.

The service was good and profits go to support elderly people. Well worth visiting.

This waterfront place is really not that different from any other Myanmar restaurant/tea house except for the social aspect. Profits go to support local elderly people which was enough to get us through the door.
