Quiet, beautiful setting, breakfast by the sea, shade from palm trees at lunchtime, nice rooms, good pool, good food, great service. Diving is of course excellent. If your partner wants to shop or engage in other activities make sure you visit Ubud first as Tulamben has little to offer. Perfect for that 1 week getaway from busy Bali.

This resort is set in a beautiful oceanfront location and feels private and serene. We stayed in Villa 1 right by the pool and it was nice to be so close to the pool. The resort has a small boutique feel and the meals were very good. The dive operation is wonderful with most of the sites just a few minutes away. This was our first time muck diving and we were blown away. The dive guides are fantastic and you need them to point out all the critters. We will be back!

Room Tip: The villas are bigger and if you want more privacy, select the ones off the pool. It seems no one u...

I really enjoy dive resorts, this place included. All the guests share a common interest which always leads to making new friends and having some inspiring conversations with fellow divers. The well kept grounds and rooms are arranged to give the guests plenty of room for relaxing during surface intervals. The pool was one of my favorite places to cool down. We stayed in a beach front Villa (highly recommended) and enjoyed the crashing out on the day bed to watch the sunrise/sunset.

The diving is mostly muck with a good wreck and some reef. So if you are into muck diving, you will enjoy most of the sites. If you are not, there is plenty else on offer, just ask the guides. You can expect warm water (29-30C) and a 3mm full wetsuit will suffice. The guides, and their manager Doris are always on hand to make sure you have a good diving experience. If you want to see/do something specific, just ask.

The resort staff are well trained, helpful and always have a smile. The food was good but would like to have seen a little more depth in the menu. Also, good value here.

Room Tip: Go for the Villa.

I travelled here with friends for an out of season diving holiday. The resort is a little out of the way from other island attraction. However we were very happy to base ourselves at the hotel as we were diving most days. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and endeavoured to meet any need or request.

This is a dive centre resort and the dives were schedules around individual needs and desires, including times and locations of dives. As a professional diver I enjoyed the diving experiences and the opportunity to hire cylinders for beach dives and night dives from the resort beach.... very active and interesting local reefs. I'd also recommend the local wreck dive and taking photography equipment for the Macro sea life.

The dive centre also linked us with another centre able to transport us to the West side of the Island for more open dives, where we were able to dive with numerous Mantas and Bola Bolas falling in a short boat ride, well worth the cooler temperatures and stronger currents!
For a non-diving day the resort arrange, at extra cost, a lovely tour of attractions around the North of the Island. This was a great chance to experience a little of the culture and life of Bali and a well thought out tour.

A lovely, relaxing, quiet resort. Not for party animals as the resort closes down at night, with no entertainment, but prefect for a quiet drink listening to the ocean and early nights for early morning diving.

I went diving at tulamben in mar 2012 staying at liberty dive resort. This time I Decided to focus on diving at seraya beach dive site to do macro photography . It's a more expensive dive resort but I like the resort with lots of landscap and coconut trees and have beach front ( even thou it's a rocky beach ) .

Diving was so great at seraya site . I did 6 dive out of 8 dive at house reef . Never get bored. Basically you can cover 4 areas at house reef . Alex dm was good at finding things ..!!

However Food and massage was just so so ... But I always dont expect much of these from a dive resort . So no expectation means no dissapoinment .

It's enjoyable there as other divers are so friendly .. David n margaret from Hk , Kat n john from arizona , Guido ...

Have to highlight to management is the transportation may be a bit on high side ..
And Aircon of the small car didn work when pick up . Luckily resort has arranged another replacement car. Tq.. last time staying at liberty resort also face same problem . Hmmm . . Are most vehicle at tulamben lack of maintainance ?

Villa is nice .... Good space and comfortable . Like it !!

My wife and i have stayed at Scuba Seraya many times and to us it always feels like a home from home. The staff are very friendly and nearly all have been at the Resort since the first time we stayed many years ago.

If you want a small personal Dive Resort with a dive site at the bottom of the Garden look no further.

My husband and I have traveled the world diving and enjoying the underwater world. It is places like this that will spoil us. First of all it is a beautiful property. All of the rooms face the water, it is really the size and how close to the water you want to be. Someone has spent a lot of time beautifully landscaping the grounds. It is about as quiet and peaceful place as you will find in the Bali area. We decided to go with the smaller (gardenview) rooms. The rooms were not large, but comfortable. They had a small safe in the room to keep your valuables. The highlight of the whole thing was the amazing outdoor bathroom. It was really nicely designed with lava/river rocks in the area around the shower. This also included a nice stand to put wet swimsuits, etc to out to dry. That was nice to not have to find a place in the room for them. They do provide bottled water. If you needed more water, you just needed to take the empty bottle over to the restaurant area and they would get you more. It was nice to know that there was always a good supply of water available. They also had nice luxurious towels for the room and also a set to be used at the dive shop.
The resort is located in the rain-shadow of the volcano (Mt. Agung). Because of this location, they do not get a lot of rainfall. It is almost a desert environment around them. (It is hard to realize this on the resort property because of all of the lush and green gardens there.) There was an amazing breeze and it was not hot. It is hard to explain to people at home that the weather there was better than the Ohio summer weather. (Probably a lot better than the Ohio winter weather. :>)
We are both divers and enjoyed working with the staff during our time there. It is a well run place that is really laid back and yet maintains a high level of safety. Depending on the waves, it could be a little challenge to navigate the slippery rocks and waves to get out to the boat. They do not have a dock. It seemed like there was always a little too much energy in the area to be able to maintain one. Once I got the routine down that helped a lot. They were great about making sure that all of your equipment was on the boat.
In front of the resort is a great muck diving area. We did all of the afternoon and night dives in that area. There is a pretty amazing cleaning station in the area also. The morning dives were to dive sites by boat. If you happen to go to the Ahmed wall dive, ask them to stop and buy some salt from the kids. It is in the area that it is "mined" and the kids make these cute baskets and put salt in them. I know that the dive staff thought the price was high (about $1 US per), but they have made the best gifts at home. They also said that the money goes for the kids to buy shoes and other things that they need for school. We found that this area of the island is one of the poorer areas of Bali.
There were several people staying there that had non-diving spouses. There was really not anything for the spouse to do in the area, but if they wanted to spend time by the beach or swim in the pool or just relax... it was a great place for them to stay.
The price includes breakfast (it was bacon or sausage and eggs or an omelet and a wonderful bread basket and juice). The rest of the meals would be ordered off of a menu and the cost would be added to the bill. The kitchen staff is very good and I was always pleased with my meal. In fact, there were several things that I had about every other day. The prices are reasonable and we both ate for about $40 (US) a day. We do not drink alcohol. They really tried to use a lot of fresh vegetables, etc that were sourced right there at the local market. (I like that it helps the local economy.)
Most of the staff had lived on the island all of their life. Some of them spoke English better than others, but they were quick to try to help out with anything that they could. Unfortunately our luggage did not arrive with us and they were really helpful at keeping in touch with the airline to make sure we got the luggage as soon as it finally made it to the island.
Overall it was a very relaxing and enjoyable dive trip. The kindness and friendliness of the staff is one of the major reasons that was the case. Beautiful black sand beach, a cool breeze, very little humidity and a great staff... who could ask for more in paradise!

Room Tip: I don't think that there is a bad choice. Just size and how close to the water you want to be.
