Belated review.

We stayed at Batu Belah for three nights over news year’s eve 2014 for a family reunion.
We were two couples from New Zealand and Portugal. We were the only people at the resort which made it very special. The views from the restaurant and pool are stunning.
Colin and Made are excellent hosts. Made’s cooking and particularly her green curry are delicious. Breakfast has room for improvement. Robs is still waiting on his hard boiled eggs but a good excuse to come back
Thank you Colin and Made sorry the review is so late, but we have special memories and loved our stay at your unique resort thank you for making our stay sepcial.
The staff are also wonderful.

Room Tip: For what you pay the rooms are excellent, you are paying three star prices so can't expect five...

Hi readers I'm going to keep this short we have stayed here twice over the last two years and it is just a delight beautiful location great food (recommend the fish cooked in banana leaves) lovely views It is quite remote and that's just great for us, well away from the crowds of the south and a good leaving or return hotel for a trip to the Gili islands we will be back as soon as possible

This is a place to stay if you want to be off the beaten track. A small quiet resort of only a handfull of bungalows with a simple restaurant serving delicious food. The resort has an inviting infinity pool and excellent snorkling in the sea right in front of the resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a small shop nearby and excellent diving centers in the nearby village of tulamben. Perfect for a romantic break if you are not looking for party. We would definately choose batu belah again!

We recently stayed in Sanur in a hotel suite, and in Ubud in two home stays, but the highlight of our trip was Batu Belah, about as far east in Bali as you can get without wetting your toes. Is is just a lovely location enhanced by lovely attentive staff and an on site restaurant and bar that is on the edge of the sea. There are just five small (air-conditioned) bungalows all within a stones throw of the sea, and within one minute of a commanding view of the sunrise alongside the volcanic horizon of Lombok. Viewed from across the gorgeous infinity pool and between the coconut palms that fringe the pool, this was the Bali of dreams.
We were a party of three (me, my wife and our 3 year old) and the surroundings felt safe and secure. Although we had a ket for our bungalow, I don't think we used it. In such a small complex, our daughter was soon adopted by the owners' two delightful daughters and although this is not to be expected, it gave us the opportunity to make the most of the truly world class snorkelling opportunities within minutes of the resort. We hired mask and fins from teh hotel. We also took the glass-bottomed boat operated by the resort to view the Liberty wreck that lies just of the beach in Tulamben.
It's wrong to describe this as a 'homestay', although the owners are much in evidence ensuring that you have everything you need and want; this is a small resort that at times, when we were alone by the pool, it felt like it was all ours. If only......

I recently stayed here for a few nights with my boyfriend and we loved the experience. Our private bungalow was perfect, simple but sweet with everything we needed (including air con). We enjoyed swimming in the pool and relaxing on the deck chairs and also snorkelling out the front of the hotel.
Bantu Belah is a short drive to Tulamben for diving but is not close to many other hotels or restaurants. We were very happy to explore the local area by foot, walking up into some of the local villages and we enjoyed having our meals at the restaurant in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
A fantastic experience and great place to stay to unwind and see the real Bali!

From the minute you arrive at the gates and get your first glimpse of the emerald sea - you know you are in for something different. Turn the corner and you are in your own private resort. Well thats what it feels like.

I stayed there with my teenage son at the beginning of a 5 week stay in Bali for just 2 nights and returned for 6 more with my partner when she arrived a week or so later. Firstly, the staff are just the most wonderful team, so funny and friendly and nothing is a problem. The food - I have to say the green chicken curry is one of the very best ever and they will cater to pretty much any need - Colin then owner originally from England keeps a good option of western dishes available for the less adventurous but the Balinese food is a must! The rooms are clean - simple but very comfortable all with views over the perfectly manicured grounds that lead to the infinity pool that sits above the ocean . Take the side entrance down to the small beach and you enter a snorkelling wonderland - right out the front. Perfect...clean waters with amazing visibility - and if you want you can even take the glass bottom boat out to the USS Liberty wreck - just 5 K's away. I cant speak highly enough of Batu Belah, the management and their wonderful team if you are looking for somewhere quiet, to unplug, unwind and relax. Did I mention the volcano backdrop or the fact that they will organise a driver moped our other tours?

We will definitely be back the next time we visit Bali - for a slice of real paradise.

Having fallen out of love with Bali some years ago I had some concerns about returning for a dive holiday.

However, right from my fist email enquiry, the guys at Batu Belah put me at ease and were a pleasure to deal with. Booking was easy, airport transfer for our late arrival was arranged as promised and for a very reasonable price, and despite arriving at the resort after midnight, we were expected and shown straight to our bungalow. They also arranged a day of diving for us on the USS Liberty wreck with adventure divers, again this went without a hitch and should be a must for any divers visiting the area.

The bungalow was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a nice sitting area and views out towards the ocean from the front porch.

There are only a small number of bungalows so the resort is nice and quiet, there's a lovely pool area with sun lounges, and a short pathway down the hill to the ocean where we were told has great snorkelling.

There's a temple next door which may be an issue for some but we found the chimes and music quite relaxing!

Restaurant has stunning views out towards the ocean and the food was pretty decent.

Staff were really friendly and and overall I'd be hard pressed to find any faults with Batu Belah - in fact I'd be more than happy to stay here again if we get back to this part of Bali in the future.
