Tulamben's dive site where the USS Liberty sank in WWII is an amazing dive site to visit. It has three great things to it's benefit. One, the clarity or visibility underwater is amazing. It's like I am diving in an aquarium. Two, the amount of marine lives to look at is abundant. So, much to look at with awe and appreciation of the beautiful world we live in. Three, obviously the wreck itself provides an adventurous environment and also the base for the absolute awesome corals to look at.

Even if you are not an avid scuba diver, I saw quite a number swimmers with just snorkels enjoying the beauty.

The travel from Denpasar takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. So, plan to leave early and you will be able to log in a dive before lunch and another after your meal. The restaurant located at the site is simple, so if you prefer you can pack your own picnic basket as well. They don't seem to mind food or water brought in from outside.

The early travel will also benefit your dive since the number of divers tends to increase a lot as the afternoon progresses. Finally, if possible do plan a few days in Tulamben at any of their dive resorts. I haven't tried them but the one I walked through; Puri Madha Bungalows, looked really nice and am planning to bring my family to stay during our next visit.

One of the easiest wreak dives. You just walk in from shore and about 40 meters out you can begin to see the US Liberty rise up from the bottom of the sea. You can swim inside it and you are still able to see some of the canons. Doing a night dive at the spot is also worth doing. It is definitely a must see if diving is one of your interests.

Incredible wreck dive (USAT Liberty). Lot's of interesting life on the wreck - both large and small. The area is really well set up and you have to be impressed by the little ladies who carry your set (or sometimes two sets) on their heads to the dive site, and the guy's who move two sets down to further dive sites on their mopeds!!! For anyone into underwater photography the wreck is great, as is the second dive on Coral Gardens. Highly recommended!

This was a nice dive site, in two dives we saw plenty of regal and emperor angelfish, a large blue ring angelfish, oriental sweetlips, a unicorn parrotfish, a stonefish, scorpionfish, a frogfish, some hawkfish, plenty of clownfish, a few nudis and a pigmy seahorse.
