We did a day tour with the Matahari Resort which included a pick up at our hotel in South Bali with a great driver, 2 dives, porter fees, all dive equipment, lunch and a few stops at temples on the way home. The dives were amazing, one at the famous wreck (which is a 5 minute walk away) and one at the drop off (3 minute walk from the resort) - only us two and our guide. Perfect. Very professional and safe. Had lunch in between dives, which was also great, many things to choose from and good quality. On the way home we stopped at two amazing temples which were very worth seeing. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Will certainly come back but next time we will stay at the resort, everything we saw looked really nice, clean and quiet. Communication with the resort was also very efficient and helpful, we booked it all through 2 emails. Prices also seem very reasonable.

I wanted to dive the wreck of the USAT Liberty, and chose Matahari because of its proximity, the fact that the resort is located right on the beach, and of course price. Many hotels in Tulamben are not directly on the beach. I stayed for three nights.

I found the communication with the resort quick and efficient. I was picked up at the airport by the shuttle from the resort, and it took about two and a half hours to reach the resort. The resort is clearly geared towards diving and that was perfect for me. Rooms are basic, and there is not much to do other than diving. Breakfast is included and you can also order lunch and dinner, which I found convenient and prices comparable to other restaurants in the area. The food was simple but tasty.

I made four dives a day, and many other people seem to do 3, 4 or 5 dives a day. You can just walk in from the beach, or take a jukung and go to sites a little further away. For sites even farther, you will need to go by car, and the resort will arrange that for you.

The dive sites at Tulamben can easily be dived without a guide, but you will need to use a porter. Although the resort makes the effort to get a porter quickly, there may be a delay. Using porters is a good idea, especially when you walk over the stones on the beach.

Tulamben itself is not very exciting. There are a few restaurants, grocery stores and shops, but in 15 minutes, you've seen it all.

Don't miss the big, ugly bumphead parrotfish early in the morning on the wreck. I saw a big piece of metal swaying in the current, so be careful when entering the wreck. Also consider the Seraya dive site for finding things like ghost pipefish and harlequin shrimp.

Thanks a lot for visit us and that you took your time to share your opinion about us with other holidaymakers.

We liked your report and it looks like you enjoyed to stay with us. Therefore we are little bit wondering why we only got "average" from you.

May be you can give us feedback what we can make better. We really appreciate to hear from our guests when something is not like they expect.

Would be nice to hear from you. Best regards

Suci

This place is not that expensive but you get more than you pay for. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the diving team is good. I think it is a family ran business and i would certainly recommend it.

this hotel very cheap for me. The location is good, very close to every dive spot. Even the room is small and their swimming pool is not too big. They have small (very small) garden to relax.
