Owner description: The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

“Easy Fun Dive”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Easy access from shore.... no need to hire a boat. Plenty of fish to look at.....we happily snorkeled around with no worries what so ever. It had rained for 3 days prior to our arrival so the visibility was a little less than perfect but we were still able to enjoy our views of the wreck al-be-it from the shallow side only.

“Incredible!”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

This is a really great dive site - I strongly recommend diving it (and basing yourself in Amed)

I went with Nico and Helen from Baliku Dive centre in Amed (look them up - also, the resort attached is great). Luckily, they really knew their stuff and organised for us to get their at the perfect time (I didn't have to wake up ridiculously early), and just as we were leaving, everyone from Denpasar etc started to arrive.

The wreck is enormous and is covered in beautiful soft corals, and there are an incredible variety of fish species to see as well. Make sure you let your guide know you'd like to do the swimthroughs - they're top notch, and there's some really nice things to see on the way through (pipefish etc).

For those of you used to diving colder waters (I'm from Canberra and dive the south coast regularly), you're in for a treat. Even at 30m, the water was a toasty 26 degrees - I just wore a rashy and boardies (there are hydrozomes that you don't want to brush against).

“superb diving!”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

what an amazing diving site! Full of fishes, turtles and other cool stuff. You can dive straight from the shore, which is great. Try and come as early as you can, like 7-8am as later it gets really crowded with the big groups coming from Sanur and other areas. Especially if you like taking pictures and videos, its good to come here first as bumping into countless divers, might spoil your dive.
