We originally booked in here for 3 nights and ended up staying 4. Customer service by email was great, we arranged our stay just the day before and the staff answered all my emails promptly even late at night. The standard room was fantastic and great value and the whole resort is a lovely place to stay. The diving was superb, we had our own divemaster who came and said hello shortly after we arrived and we made our own schedule. We told him were and when we wanted to dive and he made sure everything was ready to go. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are by no means standard, very very nice.

This resort was fantastic. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The resort is beautiful and the location is just a short walk from the beach and the ship wreck. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I used the dive centre directly at the resort and they were great: very friendly, good quality PADI instructors and good equipment. Ask for Jink as your dive master. Great holiday.

I spent 12 days at the Liberty dive resort in Tulamben end February-start March. The first days were very quiet, with more or less no other guests, while there were some other guests towards the end of my stay. I dove every day, most days four dives, with a "relaxed" day in the middle of the stay diving the Nusa Penida area. The Liberty dive resort arranged my whole stay, from airport back to airport. Transport was with Ketut, a very friendly and nice driver, and was in a more or less brand new van. Prices were clearly stated and no unexpected extras were ever presented to me. I had my own guide for the whole stay, and could arrange with him both when and where to dive. This was included in the standard price for the diving. There was an extra fee for diving in places outside Tulamben bay as well as when diving from a boat, but the extra fees were very reasonable, and also clearly stated.

The Liberty dive resort took care of the transport to and from the airport, the diving I did at Tulamben, and of course the lodging. The room I stayed in was a standard garden cottage priced at a very reasonable 55 us dollars. The luxury cottages for two were 65 us, and the very large family cottages sleeping four in big beds were 85 us, which seems even more reasonable. Included is an ok breakfast with a number of choices. Cottages include a verandah with a fan, as well as ac, fan, small mini bar, good and working bathroom, and very good beds. My bungalow was cleaned very well every day.

The first week I ate a couple of days at the resort but then tried out other restaurants in Tulamben. I found no significant difference, so at the end of my stay I used the resort restaurant. While the food in Tulamben in general isn´t earth shattering fantastic, it is perfectly OK, even for non rice dishes. Both drinks and food is in general reasonably priced.

The diving was very well planned and executed. Nitrox is free for divers with nitrox certification. Fills are good, never low, and nitrox levels in general between 31 and 32%. Tanks were always in place in time, as were dive guides and drivers. Liberty dive resort use a truck to drive to the areas some distance from the resort, while still in the Tulamben bay, which is a great advantage compared to some of the other resorts in the area, as walks easily can be quite hot and also just to long to do several times a day. The gear is taken well care of by the dive guides, both pre dive set up and after dive cleaning was done without any glitches. There is a short walk to the dives on the Liberty wreck and here the tanks and bcds just show up when you need them. Except for liveaboards, I have never been anywhere were so little time was used for logistics between dives. This of course partly was due to having my own guide. The dive guides in general are not extremely experienced, but all I dived with had good eyes and found a lot of stuff, and, also, seemed to genuinely like their job. Furthermore, they were all great fun to spend time with.

Last but not least, the best experience I had at the Liberty dive resort was meeting the extremely friendly staff. Everyone, from the gardener to the cleaners to waiters and every one else working there always had time for a greeting and a chat, not to mention the staff rock band, which had a very pleasant performance one night. The dive guides were all very nice and helpful, and tried their best to fulfill wishes of what I wanted to see. And Wayan, the owner, really did his best to help in any way he could.

Room Tip: All the cottages are very nice, so it does´t really matter which to stay in.

The resort organised our transfer from Ubud to Tulamben by car driven by one of their staff … Good English speaker and very communicative, giving us tips of all the places we were going through and stopped when we wanted, to get a closer view …

Got in Tulamben, not really knowing what we should expect, but we were:
- Warmly welcomed by the staff and the boss
- Happy to find a beautiful resort, well organised
- To discover our bungalow, very well conceived and confortable

The same evening, we met with our dive master who would accompany us (and us only) on all our dives (9 in total, including one night dive on the USS Liberty Wreck) … He listened to our dive expectations and made from there, dive proposals as well as the schedule …

Everything stayed on track from what was promised and we even saw more than what we expected, from the professionalism of our dive master, Wayan Pasek, who simply knew every inch of every reef and pointed out even sometimes, the “invisible” to us (pygmy seahorse, for example) …

The central location of the resort, is occupied by the main pool (a secondary one is in the higher part), just next to where all divers get ready to go or where you come back … It is a meeting point for all of us, diving customers and staff, exchanging about our sightings of the day … A real pleasant moment, shared with all on the resort …

Let’s not forget that this resort is not only about diving … The staff in the restaurant and bar, overviewing the main pool are discreet but always available if needed … Speaking English, they even picked up pretty well some French as well as German from previous customers … Food quality is good (breakfast with multiple choices available) and do have some very good drinks available while relaxing around the pool … Discovered the Arak Attack, which was a bonus during this stay …

Of course, some may complain that the resort is not directly on the shore (but 5 minutes walk down to the beach were you can swim to the wreck), but this is compensated by the quality of this resort and also with a staff that makes a difference, not intrusive but at the same time, making you feel that you belong to one big family … We really appreciated the improvised concert one night that they organized for all of us (after verifying with all customers if it didn’t bother) …

Let’s not forget about the bungalows (new part of the resort finished in August 2011) … Very nicely made, spacious and nicely decorated / equipped … Bathrooms are big enough and the small terrasse in front of each of them is a plus … Wireless internet is available even from our bungalow, the most remote one …

Can’t judge the older ones, in the first building, arranged as apartments, but from the people staying there, they seemed to be similar in comfort than the bungalows …

We will come back for sure in Tulamben and we will for sure, stay again in the Liberty Dive resort … It will be like visiting friends …

Room Tip: If you want more privacy, get the villa n°15 which is at the other side of the resort ...

This Resort is up to date with everything, from cleanliness, free wi-fee and excellent service. The house, bungalow style, is modern and very clean. Bathroom great, with hot and cold water. Fantastic pressure in water! Air-con quiet.
Beds and pillows were soft.
One big and one small pool. Clean and fresh.
We did not take any diving lessons because of problems with our ears, but we did snorkelling instead. Up to date equipment! No leakage.
Restaurant served good breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I have to give the best recommendations for this hotel/resort. 5/5 possible!
Thanks for the best service you can get in Bali.
