What a disappointment ! After reading all these good comments on tripadvisor, we decided to spend a week at Liberty dive resort for new year's week... Everything went wrong except for the diving part - wich was amazing thanks to to our great dive masters and instructors.

- breakfast wasn'nt good except if you like a bowl of oil in the morning
- asking for a car to go to Amed for dinner cost twice as much as it is written in the room
- even if the hotel is empty, don't except to be up graded, even if the staff insists to show you all these nice expensive rooms
- the cheapest rooms (58$) are right next the main road... There's a lot of traffic even at night
- bascally, asking for anything (if you're lucky enough to find the receptionnist) is very, very complicated!

Anyway, there are plenty other places to stay in Tulamben, but the dive center is very reliable and flexible and ALL the staff has a big smile on their face all day long !

Thanks Modomodo - We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. This is the best way for us to fully understand what our customers think of our resort.
It is a pity that you didn't like our breakfast, but we certainly don't offer a bowl of oil for breakfast!
We do have Pancake in two styles, Toast, Eggs in five styles, Breakfast Sausage, Bacon, Cooked Tomato. Along with Tea/Coffee/ and Fresh Fruit. There is also a choice of Indonesian style breakfast, Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, Black Rice Pudding.
As for our prices for transport to Amed, the correct price is displayed in our information sheet in the room. But the price is for one way transport, as most people only require transport to Amed. In your case you asked to transfer to Amed to have dinner and for the driver to standby and return you to our resort after dinner. This of course costs more than a one way transfer to Amed.
Being upgraded (for free) is not something we can offer any of our guests, as this would cause other guests who have paid for a higher grade of room to feel cheated. When they find that someone has paid less than them, but have the same grade of room.
We do of course show our guests each type of room, as many people are happy to pay more for a larger, more luxurious room. If we didn't show all room styles, we would not be doing our job properly.
The cheapest rooms in our resort were (at the time you stayed here) $48 and they are closer to the road, but we have since your stay added a wall between the road and these rooms and a glass partition on the upstairs room, to block the road noise.
Talking to someone at reception is now available from 7am to 10.30pm every day. At the time of your stay we were in the process of expanding our resort (through popular demand), so there were times when we were short staffed, But there is now always someone to serve the needs of our guests at reception.

We spent 5 nights at LDR, in a rather new, large family bungalow by the pool. Traveling with our 5 year old daughter and a 19 year old niese. The bungalow was great for us, plenty of room for four people with lots of luggage. The girls enjoyed the nice pool while we were diving. The food was good, and our 5 y.o could get some familiar western food as well. (We tried the restaurant in the nearby Ocean View Resort for variation - local food was ok but western food was terrible to say the least - ended up ordering more food back at LDR instead).
Staff is friendly and helpful. Our diveguide Wayan (from LDR) very good as well, allowing us long, calm dives.

Tulamben is mainly for divers, and offers little entertainment within walking distance. And walking along any Bali road is hazardous anyway... So traveling with a small child we were happy to find she liked LDR and their two pools so much. The bigger pool is newly constructed by the new bungalows. Trees are planted, but offers little shade yet, so it can be a bit hot at times. The smaller pool has more shade (but a couple of tiles with sharp edges so little feet may benefit from wearing some sort of footwear.)

The hotel also arranged for transport and a boat trip, all done smoothly and with smiles. At the current price level we found it to be very good value for money.

What can I say, I had waited a year to get back there and it did not disapoint again. i took 10 friends with me this time from my dive club Scuba2 and we were all looked after so well. From Ricki's drivers who picked up at the airport to take us to Tulamben to the guys at 5 am on the morning we left every one was really helpful. The new bungalows are just great and the new pool wonderful to dive into when you get back from your diving.
The guides were all great and found us lots of wonderous things to picture and looked after our gear really well every dive. Wayan, Jacki and all the crew do a great job and I can not say enough good things about them. Keep up the good work guys and hope to see you again soon. Sue M

I could not have asked for more for this my first experience diving the liberty wreck .Firstly the great accommodation. The new bungalows are spacious, private, well furnished and well priced and we made good use of the balcony where we never got tired of the fantastic view of Mt Agung. The food at the restaurant was very good and covered all tastes. I loved the choice of having two pools to relax by. Wayan (owner/manager)treats his staff like family and this shines through in their friendly and warm welcoming manner. We really enjoyed listening and singing along to Budii and friends playing his guitar. Our dive guide Mega was fantastic ensuring that we experienced as much as tulamben and the liberty wreck has to offer always ensuring our safety. Nothing was ever a problem and the dive guides were always flexible and accommodating making this a memorable tripTerimah kasih to Wayan and all the staff at LDR we look forward to coming back. PS thanks Wayan for the free nitrox.

Room Tip: Good rooms but the new bungalow's are great

I dived Tulamben a number of times over the years but not recently. Through a friend of a friend we heard about LDR and after staying 8 days would wholeheartedly recommend it both for the diving, accomodation and especially the great staff, both around the resort and diving operation. I travelled with my wife and 6 y/o old son - everybody went out of their way to treat them like family and pretty soon my son was hanging out with the crew and meeting the local kids and families. He had just the best time. We all enjoyed the accomodation, albeit a little tired in the old block we stayed at (though having dived all over SE Asia there was nothing wrong with the value). Food & restaurant were good. Dive facilities fine - would recommend any keen photog's try to dive with Uji who was very well versed in spotting and assisting as well as being good fun and an all in nice guy. In all we had a blast and look forward to diving with Wayan and the crew again some day.

Room Tip: New rooms more modern but not so much shade as rooms in the the original block so may retain the heat.
