“Totally worth it”
Reviewed July 24, 2011

the whole design of the hotel is really chip and relaxing, and most importantly, it gives the feel of private while at the same time, you can enjoy the time in open spaces. the facilities are quite new and modern, and it's like 10min walk to the Seminyak beach, which is a quiteful and beautiful beach. Stepping out of this hotel, the whole Seminyak area is a chip neighbourhood surrounded by modern resturants and boutique shops. They also have free wifi for each villa and you can even enjoy that in the outdoor pool area. Also, they have free return shutle bus between the hotel and Legian, the famous shopping street.

One of the most fantastic vacation experiences I've ever had. The staff blew us away and all the service touches make this place magical. Spend a little extra to get a pool villa as ours was well worth it. Not much here for small kids but our teenage daughter loved it. Great villas, great spa and great location (walking distance to the beach and a number of great restaurants) all make this a place to not miss if you are heading to Bali.

I love the place because it is near by the Beach, i can easily go to the cafe by walking within 10 minutes. the location was perfect also the staff were very friendly.
The rooms are really tidy and smell fresh.. I wish i could stay more time but the room is very limited, at least you have to book 1 week before to stay in this property.

Room Tip: try to get the room near from the lobby instead of in the middle

We stayed at The Kayana for four nights in a pool villa in early July - we definitely wish we could have stayed longer!
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is far enough away from the over-crowded areas of Legian and Kuta, however there are some fantastic little shops and bistros (Biku was a highight) if you take the time to stroll around the local area. If you do want to head into the more bustling areas, as mentioned by others there is a free shuttle service which is great.
The staff were more than accommodating, and very friendly.
Complimentary afternoon tea is a lovely touch, and the breakfasts are great - we had entree, main and dessert servings of breakfast!
We had previously stayed at W hotel - and must say that we were no where near as impressed with that hotel as we were with the Kayana. If you are wanting to spend a little more on your accommodation, then this place is totally worth it. And who doesn't want a 24 hour butler service! Our butler, Gusti, was fantastic and very friendly - you hardly ever see them, but they know everything that is happening with you and are on hand in an instant when you do need them.
As evidenced by my blabbering on, we loved our stay at the Kayana, and if ever we return to Bali would most definitely stay there again (and we would definitely recommend the Balinese massage...)

We too stayed here on the mostly positive recommendations of tripadvisor. But you should know that the opening of the W Hotel and Spa next door greatly detracts from the Kayana. The access road to the new resort runs the length of the bungalows on the rt hand side of the hotel (even numbers) The first night we could not sleep due to the constant and cacophonous noise of traffic to and fro, with the security checkpoint direcly outside our bungalow! Even thought the staff found quieter accom for us for the remaining 3 nights, a German honeymoon couple were not so lucky and had to endure 2 dreadfully niosy nights before they could be moved. It is such a pity as the breakfast was lovely and the staff attentive and unfailingly pleasant. If you choose The Kayana ensure you ask for a bungalow with even numbers.

Loved this place, such a great atmosphere and close to the action.

Villa:
The pool villa was excellent. Perfectly laid out and gorgeously furnished. The pool was a nice size and the perfect temperature. Bed was very very comfortable too and it was quiet. Occasionally we heard voices in the morning but nothing irritating (and I'm a light sleeper). We didn't want to leave our villa pool during the day which is a good sign.

Food:
Breakfast was lovely, it is only a la carte but the selection is great. The best french toast and milkshake I've ever had. One In villa dinner was included in our package and the salad, soup and dessert was excellent - the main arrived cold though, but as it was a freebie with the package I wouldn't want to make too big a deal of it. Free afternoon tea was a lovely touch - capuccino, or whatever you prefer, by the pool or your villa with a small snack.

Spa:
Outstanding. The Balinese massage was one of the best I've ever had. I had a 90min one every day and felt that, at £50 a go, it was a little expensive but totally worth it. For the level of accommodation though the price is excellent - at the St Regis the cost of a one hour massage was almost double!

Main pool:
Small but perfectly formed. Deep and good for laps. Only 6 or so sunloungers but we were always the only ones there.

Location:
Excellent. A 2 minute walk from Potato Head Beach Club where we spent most nights and a 5 minute shuttle (free) to the main restaurant area with Chandy, Cafe Bali, Ultimo etc. Biku across the road is great for lunch too.

Service:
Excellent. Very polite and helpful. Free shuttle service around Seminyak and Legion is a great touch. Very handy when we needed to get to the money exchange or pharmacy - the driver would be happy to wait and bring us back. Only poor service was the wake up call - we asked for it every morning and didn't get it once! Even the alarm clock failed to work. Very bizarre, but hardly a show stopper. Just bring your own alarm (our phones were out of battery).

We will definitely, definitely be back.

Room Tip: Bring your own alarm clock as wake up calls don't happen :)

This is my first trip to Bali together with my boyfriend. We chose Kayana because of the many positive reviews. Kayana literally blew us away with their beautiful spacious rooms and attentive services by the staff.
I am usually very particular when it comes to hotel/resort room. The appearance and layout of the room is important and have to give an instant wow-factor before we would choose to book with them. We were not disappointed! The 1 bedroom pool villa that we booked is exactly true to the photos that are shown in their website.

Everything within our villa is near perfection. The water fountain near the pool with outside lounge area, huge 4 poster bed with fluffy soft pillows (complete with bed drapes, truly inviting!), free minibar (for soft drinks), wonderful breakfast selection, served in the privacy within your villa, complimentary tea and cakes served every 3pm. Room service is efficient n fast with plenty of mineral water and towel provided.
At night the whole villa is basked in soft warm light, air con adjusted to a cool setting (we usually switch off the air con when out), bed drapes drawn…. The villa at night gives off a romantic atmosphere….

A boutique resort with only 30 villas, fully booked. However, we hardly see any guest around. It feels like we had the whole resort to ourselves! The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. We wanted a city tour and they were really patient, taking out the time mapping out places of interest.

However,
Con: Food in the hotel menu is not really appetizing. (But not the daily breakfast) It will be worth your money if you choose to eat out at restaurants outside the villa.

Already looking forward to the next vacation back to Kayana!
