“Loved Umalas Retreat!”
Reviewed January 20, 2018 for a stay in January 2018

We just loved staying at Umalas Retreat 1. The service and communication was 1st class from the time we booked our stay. The villa is beautifully decorated, spacious, spotless, relaxing and so, so comfortable. It has everything you could possibly need. Heni our Chef was amazing. Anything we needed she organised immediately, including in-house masseurs. She cooked us beautiful meals starting with pancakes and eggs benedict daily. We’d order lunches that were ready when we got home from being out and about. A highlight was the Rijsttafel on our last night. Umalas Retreat is in a quiet area with a supermarket 50m up the road, great little Yoga place next door and transport close by which can be organised by Heni or security. Seminyak is very close, even in heavy traffic it was less than 30000Rp by taxi, however the area around Umalas is worth exploring. We won’t be staying anywhere else when in Bali. Thanks to Kay and the great team.

“Home away from home”
Reviewed August 23, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Our stay at Umalas Retreat 1 was just wonderful from the minute we were collected by the very knowledgeable and friendly Mr Putu. Kay was a joy to deal with in arranging our stay and delivered on everything we requested and her attention and patience during a 'technical issue' with Trip Advisor made me feel so confident that I knew we were dealing with someone who cares for her visitors.
The villa is in a great location if you are wanting to get away from the madness that has become Bali and you are feel as though you are experiencing what it is like to live there - we certainly wanted to and did not want to leave. Whilst being remote taxi are easily available and come promptly and whilst it should only take less than 10 minutes to get into Seminyak this can vary depending on traffic, time of the day and day of the week. We found having a bike was very useful. There is a great supermarket less than a 100 meters away which has a fantastic range of goods. If you are after being close to the beach then this is not the place for you but it is only a short drive to get to many of the famous beaches in Seminyak and Canngu.
Because the villa was so homely we found it difficult to want to leave and for the first time in the 10+ years of visiting Bali did not go out for dinner once. This was due to the wonderful Heni our chef, maid and now friend. She is just amazing and her culinary skills are second to none - why go out when she is more than happy to create something for you. I have learned to prepare a number of Bali delicacies and in turn taught her some of my 'western' recipes so if you are considering staying here this will be a highlight with nothing be too much trouble for her. I was sick for a few days but Heni nursed me back to near health with her remedies and advice. The villa itself is very comfortable and Kay and Anthony have thought of everything - you can literally turn up with your toothbrush, toothpaste and a few clothes - the rest is taken care of. I would say that it is not a high end luxury villa but is better than that because it has soul and you can feel the love that has been put into creating it. We did not need all the space for the two of us but must admit it was great to be able to spread out, I loved the little nooks for escaping the heat or chilling reading a book. So a suggestion of a couple of one bedroom villas would make the whole retreat fantastic for all. The big pluses are the transport to and from the airport, the knowledge of Kay, Anthony and their team, the welcome hamper, all the 'little' things that have been thought of from books to power adapters, water chiller, fully stocked kitchen, well stocked mini bar at very reasonable prices..... the list goes on. Would absolutely recommend looking for a great way to get away from it all and relax - we did and found it so hard to leave.

“Perfect Bliss for Families with Young Children”
Reviewed July 21, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Umalas Retreat Villa 1 was exactly what I was looking for in a holiday. The villa is gorgeous with such beautiful decor, and it's a great place for little ones to play and have fun with the toys and board games supplied and beautiful pool. The real star of the Villa is beautiful Heni, who took such good care of us with her incredible cooking, house keeping and baby sitting. Kay also went out of her way to get a cake and decorate the villa to surprise my daughter on her birthday. We absolutely adored the place and are recommending it to all of our friends.

“Paradise!”
Reviewed July 20, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

What an amazing find Umalas Retreat was! If you are looking for a little piece of paradise that is located near great facilities, then this is the place for you! You could stay at Umalas without leaving the premises, if you wanted to! Your own personal chef will cook you the most scrumptious food. The villa is gorgeous, perfect for 2 couples travelling together. Loved it!

“'Little bit of paradise'”
Reviewed June 27, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We have just returned from 7 night staying at Umalas Retreat Villa I. What a wonderful time we had from start to finish. Kay was an absolute delight to deal with, she made our booking so easy and was always on hand to offer advise and assistance before we even arrived. The Villa is absolutely gorgeous & is beautifully decorated with such a tranquil feel about it. We especially loved having our own private pool. The villa is such a great size with plenty of amenities and gave us the chance to relax.
Out so children loved the pool toys and the chests of toys in their bedroom.
We were greeted upon arrival by Heni who was to be our chef/housekeeper for the next week. She was absolutely wonderful in every way. She was so friendly, helpful & cooked the most delicious food for us during our stay. Our two young children warmed to Heni straight away & would ask to see her as soon as they woke up. We were sad to say goodbye.
We have fallen in love with Bali and Umalas is a fab place to stay. We would highly recommend Umalas Retreat for a little bit of paradise. Thankyou to Kay & Heni for making our stay so memorable.

“Amazing Stay!”
Reviewed June 7, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

I was lucky enough to stay in villa 1. The villa was beautiful with lovely decor and home furnishings. The villa was very clean, well maintained and very secure with security staff which is very important to me.

Heni looked after us three girls in villa 1. Nothing was too much trouble for her, not only did she arrive every morning with hot cappuccinos and French pastries from the local Monsieur spoon cafe, she would also cook us a delicious breakfast, which would include fresh fruit, banana pancakes, chicken porridge, noodles just to name a few of the menu options from the guest menu book. We also decided to eat dinner in the villa a couple of nights to enjoy Heni's cooking, we had delicious basil chicken and pad Thai noodles. Heni is always smiling, happy and there to help with any requests.

Villa 1, was beautiful and I was also lucky enough to meet Kay the owner, she also showed me through villa 2 which was beautiful. Kay was very attentive with any questions I had about the villa and local area. I would highly recommend Umalas Retreat.

I can't wait to come back!
