“OVERPRICED RUN DOWN VILLA!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

We recently booked the Sentosa for 4 nights to celebrate a 40th birthday with friends. The villa we booked was a 3 bed presidential and we got a run down villa at the back of the complex. The gardens were so overgrown that we had weeds everywhere and the grass was growing into the pool. The cushions on the inside furniture was so grubby and disgusting as where the outside cushions that I really didn't want to use them, and the umbrella around the pool was broken. When lying on the day bed all you could see was broken thatch hanging off the villa and bale roof. Unfortunately it was too embarrassing to make a fuss in front of our invited guests to be moved. The service from staff also leaves a lot to be desired, when we checked in one of our guests wallets disappeared from the dining table and when we asked management to please look into this they tried to tell us we must have left it somewhere else! Absolutely disgusting!! We travel to Bali 3 to 4 times a year and have stayed in many beautiful villas for a lot less and had much better service. I would never stay in or recommend the Sentosa to anyone. The only positive is the new tapas restaurant Salt is fabulous.

Room Tip: do not book villa 34 it is terrible

Dear justine c

I would like to thank you for your feedback about your recent stay. We regret that you were disappointed with your experience with the villas and service. It is unfortunate that this was not raised to our attention as we would have liked to have had the opportunity to be able to recovery any shortfall based our your expectations. We take on your comments constructively and will be looking into them.

As for the guests lost, we do take reports of this nature seriously and we followed our strict investigation procedure. My colleagues were in touch with their initial findings however gathered from the guests statement it seemed that your guests were not certain where the item was placed or possibly misplaced. Perhaps this was a misunderstood and I apologise for the lack of follow through.

I will like to be able to discuss this with you personally. Please contact me directly at sashi.rajan@sentosaseminyak.com.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here with my wife for 7 days in the beginning on November 2013. Booked a one bedroom villa - effectively a 3 bedroom villa with 2 bedrooms locked. As you enter the villa you walk on stepping stones over a pond filled with fish. You are met by the sound of running water from the several water features. The villa is thatched and is designed in a rectangular fashion around your own pool and comprises of a L-shaped bedroom section (2 of which where locked), a gazebo with built in day beds (could easily fit 4 people), with a kitchen/dinning room/lounge area making up the rectangle. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a fresh water dispenser situated in the kitchen with hot and cold water. A toilet, separate from the bedrooms, is located close to the pool. The villas contained a large king bed, with fly nets if needed. Tons of hanging space and an outside bathroom with toilet, shower and bath. The bathroom is accessed through French doors from the bedroom and is roofed but not walled on 2 sides opening into a small private garden (not accessible from the rest of the villa). The wifi is fast and efficient .

Breakfast is served around the large communal pool area near the reception area, or one can choose to eat in the adjacent Salt tapas restaurant, a blessing as Bali is hot and humid in November. Breakfast comprises a choice of juices, teas, coffee, a choice of pastries, cereal, muesli and yogurts. A menu is provided to choose your own cooked breakfasts. The staff are all super friendly and efficient.

Sentosa is conveniently situated close to several of the "up market" restaurants in Seminyak. Eat street is a 15 minute walk.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would gladly return.

Came with a large family group of 11 people. We had villa No. 42. It is quite a distance from the lobby and we had to take the buggy to and from as it is a struggle in the hot bali sun (esp after early morning/after dark) If you're looking for villa w close access to the beach, this is not it, although the beach is about a 15 min walk from where we were. (to the lobby, past the entrance, onto main road, and a side road). Breakfast can be served in the villa or at the restaurant, salt tapas (a luke mangan rest) coffees were good - cappucino, long blacks (aussie style) , delightful array of pastries and danishes, hot breakfasts and local stuff like mee goreng. obviously, if its served at the villa, you won't get the nice coffee, and the food will be cold (being kept in containers to keep the flies at bay & shipped to your villa) rooms are spacious. depending on the bedroom you get, you could get an outdoor bathroom - which can be a plus or a minus depending on your luck - i say that because i was bitten by some biting insect while sitting on the throne. also the ants took a liking for my toothpaste. aircon leaks water in several places (main kitchen area), in the bathroom. other member of my group complained of the lack of hot water (in other bedrooms) - i didnt have that problem as i showered with cold water. Also i find the sliding doors do not seal as well as they should allowing mosquitoes to enter at night. the wardrobes are spacious, but there isn't sufficient light, meaning you're finding stuff in the dark as my head casts a shadow onto the shelves. coffee and tea fac avail and replenished daily, but the lovely crabtree and evelyn toiletries are not - you get one soap (yes the same one to shower and wash your hands) a shampoo and conditioner and body lotion- we were left with the same stock for our 4 day trip which is clearly not sufficient for the number of people. found the pool design poor as water splashes everywhere when people are in it. the day bed while an attractive feature was filthy and not fit for lying on. also if you arrive at night for the first time, you may end up falling into the pond at the entrance as there isn't sufficient lighting in the entrance way. perhaps it would be better for the staff to enter the premises and light it up for guests and show them where the switches are, what they mean to do and how to use the facilties like the oven (the person who assisted us had no clue). The gym is well equipped and the toilets in the lobby area are airconditioned which is a good thing. the pool at the entrance is absolutley stunning but not suitable for laps. The place has potential, but the staff and maintenance lets it down. for the price we paid, i expected more. I'm giving it an average, but it has the potential to be very good.

Room Tip: in my view, the closer you are to the entrance/lobby, the better your amenity

Dear cpr2exs

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. We truly appreciate the valuable feedback.

We do apologies for the service shortfalls you have highlighted as we do strive to meet the needs of all our guests. In this instance we obviously fell short.

On the note of mosquitoes, we do fumigate the resort twice weekly however we will keep a close watch as the season begins to transition.

Rest assured your constructive comments will be looked and taken into consideration.

Thank you again.

We stay 2 nights at these beautiful villas. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villas are exceptional. Loved the aircon in both the bedrooms and living area. We found the staff to be very attentive and the resort was modern and in a fantastic location. They also have a amazing newly opened tapas restaurant called Salt situated in the complex. I did manage to squeeze in a facial as they have a first class spa and beauty salon. It was one of the best facials I have experienced. My therapist Ellie was fantastic. Thank you Sentosa. We will be back.

My Husband and I stayed at Sentosa in October 2013 for 5 nights and we actually also had our wedding there. I don't even know where to start I could go on for days about this place. We stayed in the 5 bedroom villa with family and from the very second we entered the villa everyone could not believe the size, beauty and layout of this amazing villa.
Because there was 10 of us staying in the 5 bedroom villa it was very reasonably priced.
The bedrooms all had their own private beautiful bathrooms, and there is a separate living area and kitchen so much space that you don't even need to use it all.
The pool in the 5 bedroom villa was much bigger than we expected as well.
Even when you first enter at Reception the atmosphere is stunning.
The location is just perfect its off the main streets so quiet enough when you just want peace and quiet but right in Seminyak so when you want bars, shops and beaches its all a few minutes walk.
Breakfast and coffee in the restaurant was satisfying every morning and you have the view of the main pool while you enjoy the service from the friendly staff.
Our wedding setup and wedding day was well above our expectations and I would just like to say a huge thank you to Dian and Dharma and everyone involved who looked after every little detail prior to and on the day it was the most beautiful and best choice ever.
If anyone is even considering staying at the Sentosa for a holiday or doing a wedding overseas this is something you will not regret.
I actually do not have any negative points at all everything from service, staff, location and help Is all worth 5 stars.
I look forward to being able to stay at the Sentosa in the future again.

We stayed at Sentosa villas for the second time as a group of 3 couples. The villas are great, but looking a bit tired in places. Good beds, air conditioned kitchen lounge area and a great changeable breakfast ( thanks Uni and Astina ...) with good coffee made our stay a pleasant experience. Accommodating friendly staff that solved problems with the air conditioning and noisy neighbours was also a bonus. Good gym as well.

Tip : use taxis exclusively, even to go to the airport...NOT the transport outside the villa.

The only real negative is that the place is a bit run down and old looking.

Room Tip: Good access to the main food strip ( walk to Ultimo ..) if you get villas numbered in the 40s... Ge...

Have just returned yesterday from a 4 day stay at Sentosa. Was not long enough!! My husband and I booked a one bedroom villa but were given a three bedroom (the other two bedrooms were locked). The living area and the pool were bigger than we expected. Very clean and the daily service was always excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was ever a problem. We ate at Salt Tapas every day. Luke Mangan needs to be congratulated on an amazing menu. We tried nearly everything and nothing disappointed us. Prices were reasonable and the food was absolutely beautiful. Location was good (only a 10 min walk to ever popular Ku De Ta). Will definitely go back, just need to save up for it. Only criticism was the price. I thought the cost for a 4 day stay was a bit expensive.
