“Private pool villa experience”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stayed at Sentosa villas for the second time as a group of 3 couples. The villas are great, but looking a bit tired in places. Good beds, air conditioned kitchen lounge area and a great changeable breakfast ( thanks Uni and Astina ...) with good coffee made our stay a pleasant experience. Accommodating friendly staff that solved problems with the air conditioning and noisy neighbours was also a bonus. Good gym as well.

Tip : use taxis exclusively, even to go to the airport...NOT the transport outside the villa.

The only real negative is that the place is a bit run down and old looking.

Room Tip: Good access to the main food strip ( walk to Ultimo ..) if you get villas numbered in the 40s... Ge...

Have just returned yesterday from a 4 day stay at Sentosa. Was not long enough!! My husband and I booked a one bedroom villa but were given a three bedroom (the other two bedrooms were locked). The living area and the pool were bigger than we expected. Very clean and the daily service was always excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was ever a problem. We ate at Salt Tapas every day. Luke Mangan needs to be congratulated on an amazing menu. We tried nearly everything and nothing disappointed us. Prices were reasonable and the food was absolutely beautiful. Location was good (only a 10 min walk to ever popular Ku De Ta). Will definitely go back, just need to save up for it. Only criticism was the price. I thought the cost for a 4 day stay was a bit expensive.

Our stay at Sentosa was amazing the place is stunning, just walking up to the reception and looking though to the pool and dining areas, WOW…. there was however one major issue however during our stay which took the shine off what was as I say a great experience.

So ill start with the one bad and then get on to the good – theft – during our visit someone removed a i-pad mini from one of the rooms. I suppose its small enough to hide away, however it was not so much the theft but how the hotel dealt with it. Crap happens all over the world, where they dropped the ball was how they tried (did not try) to recover from the issue of staff theft, it took them two/three days to really address the issue but hey have to give them credit they eventually came up with a solution… if they had gotten there day one, we would have been left with the most amazing experience.

So the warning from me is although these are walled villas staff have full access and come in on mass when they clean the rooms, be aware, even if your in the villa by the pool etc you don’t know what’s happening in the rooms.

A area for improvement is around the locks on the villas, in that you cant lock yourself in, as there are two locks on the villas, one from the inside and one from the outside, so if a group go out, and someone stays behind, they cant lock the door, without having to get up and let everyone in, and the keys will not open the door from the outside, and visa versa…. So you could find your self locked in the villa, could be a great joke…
So now the good stuff and there is lots of it,

Food - excellent, breakfasts were better down in the main dining room, rather than being delivered. Room service great as well…

Golf cart transfers, don’t bother, they only go to the security hut, so faster to walk, however get taxis to drop you off to your rooms not reception saves the walk. Security at the main gates appeared at times to be comical, with up to 5 guards

Villa’s as per my pics this place was amazing… relaxing and unwinding, nice touch to have a ipod doc stereo and power by the pool, was missing the tv in the main room, however who cares we did not use the tv the hole time we were there. Free bottled water was a good touch as well.

Internet – free wifi, puts places in NZ and aus to shame

Spa – apparently amazing as well, more than the spa’s around the hotel but I was told by those
that used it well worth it and those I was with preferred the hotel over the cheaper ones out side the complex

Gym – well equipped and clean but then who wants to use a gym on holiday?

The complex itself is a great location right between the main drag and some of the nicer restaurants and clubs, with potato head, W, just down the road

Overall a great place, would highly recommend

Room Tip: i beleive that some of the vills have been done up perhaps check?

We loved our stay at Sentosa Seminyak. Food at the restaurant was fantastic, service was excellent and the villas were modern and well maintained. Location was also great. One suggestion would be to have kids pool toys available to borrow from reception. Overall definately recommend staying here.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Sentoas Villas. The staff were more than accommodating and added the personal touch which makes a stay so lovely. Our villa was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good, beds very comfortable (pillows too large and soft however), villa pool was bigger than we expected which was wonderful, TV/DVD in lounge and each bedroom, and kitchen well equipped (however we ate out every meal). Gym and Spa were also very good and we used these each day!
Down sides - a little time could be spent on the villa to make it look less tired - oiling/staining the worn wooden doors and daybed, gardening the weeds (also cigarette buts in garden) and benchtops are stained. Some wine glases or even some plastic drink wear for while in the pool would be a suggestion - had to have a glass of wine in a Champagne flute pool side.
Our Villa (47) was at the back and so the noise of the street was not good- spoiled the serenity of the resort being off the main road at the front. When ordering taxis from reception took far too long to arrive when there are taxis everywhere on the street. A hotel shuttle like other hotels/resorts would be great - to and from restaurants and shops would be much quicker and less frustrating.
I would stay there again if I returned to Seminyak as location is great and the staff were exceptional. Thank you.

Stayed in a 5 bedroom villa (Villa 42) last week. Check in was very fast and the staff were very friendly. The villas are very spacious and luxurious with a living room and kitchen area. The resort is only 5 minutes from the beach. Breakfast was very good + excellent service from the staff. Location was great, just a short walk to bars, restaurants and Seminyak Square. Would definitely come back.

Not much to fault at Sentosa Seminyak. We stayed in Villa 11 and loved it. The villa was quite large. It consisted of a central pool surrounded by the bedrooms, the daybed and kitchen/family/meals area. It definitely gives you the wow factor when you walk in.

Let me focus on the downsides...

(1) For families with young kids you need to pre-order a pool fence. What gets delivered is a series of bamboo fences that tie together. It works well but the fence did not cover the fish pond/water feature which you step over upon entering the villa. This can be hazardous.

(2) The bedrooms all open onto the pool area and so if you have young children to keep an eye and ear out then it is problematic. We had to share the beds with our kids to make it work.

(3) The pillows all looked great on the bed but they were ridiculously thick and could not be used. Unfortunately housekeeping could not offer us alternatives and so we were forced to use the cushions from the day bed. Beds and linen were great but I can't imagine anyone sleeping on such thick pillows!

(4) The bedrooms each have TVs but the family room does not. That can be a good or bad depending on your need to watch TV whilst on holidays. It at first seems like an oversight but then we didn't miss it.

(5) The villas are reasonably well located but not perfect. Expect to spend a little time each day walking to outside restaurants and bars. You can always request a taxi but we found they took their time turning up.

(6) The lounges in the family room looked comfy enough but the webbing that supports the cushions had all stretched and so you sank too far down. These need replacing.

All in all a great place to stay with welcoming staff and good food. The negatives really only apply to those with young children around water.

Room Tip: Request a room close to reception for easy access to the restaurant/pool. Request a room further...

Dear DiamondCoco

Thank you for your detailed review. Good to hear the overall experience was positive.

Appreciate that with children, safety is paramount and as you mentioned, we are able to organise a pool (and pond fence) when required. You would be happy to know we are working on adding televisions and DVD player in the living spaces.

We are looking into your other comments and feedback and will be taking them into consideration.

Hope to see you return to Bali and Sentosa Seminyak!
