“Family Holiday at Villa Coco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

We have just come home from a 10 day stay at Villa Coco with our girls (6 & 12). We had a great time and a very enjoyable & relaxing stay. The staff are very friendly and accomodating and work hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. It was great having a late check out with our late flight.

Villa Coco is tucked away off Double Six in Seminyak in a quite lane way (Gang) away from the busy main road. We stayed in the two bedroom closed villa with pool and this was perfect with the kids. It was nice for a late night or early morning swim. We also wandered out to the main pool for Happy Hour and some socialising. The Villa and garden was imaculately cleaned and maintained, our beds were turned down each night and the Villa was sprayed for mossies and cleaned daily. Its only a short walk to lots of shopping and about a 10 minute walk to the beach (if only there was back exit). Thank you for a wonderful time Villa Coco and thank you to all the staff who made our stay so wonderful.

Room Tip: 2 Bedroom closed villa with Pool - (C4) was great with kids.

_Overview
This was my second stay this year - first time was in a closed style duplex bungalow (without pool) and second time in a 2 BR pool villa. The price we paid for the 2 BR pool villa was USD300 booked via agoda - very reasonable for 4 pax. All bungalows and villas are very spacious and pretty much like the pics in their website.

_Villas
The bungalows are more traditional (with thatched roof and four-poster mosquito net beds), whereas the pool villas have a more modern feel (but still Balinese style with lots of wood and rattan). I liked them both. The living area in the 2 BR villa is really generous (I think you could comfortably hold a party there for 20 pax!).

The spacious bathrooms are all semi-outdoor style i.e. open at the top of the walls to let in a bit of sunlight and air, but sheltered so you wouldn't get wet even when it rains. Of course you would naturally get some mosquitoes around dusk so it is best to avoid showering at that time. Shower pressure would be considered medium. There was no real catchment area for the shower water in the second bedroom so the water tends to cover the whole toilet floor, but the first bedroom was ok.

Overall I felt that there were more mosquitoes in the bungalow (C11) than the pool villa (A6), however I cannot say if this was due seasonal factors, location of the unit (C11 was much deeper in than A6), or overall design (bungalows have more plants/greenery)

_Facilities
Private pool in the 2 BR villa was small (about 5M in length and 1M deep), but there is a small common pool which is about 10M long. Free wifi is only in the area around the common pool. Turndown service is provided every evening around 5pm where the staff would spray the rooms and leave a chocolate on your bed.

Bali is not a walk-friendly place (due to the nearly non-existent sidewalks and the humidity) so it is best that you get your own wheels. The hotel can arrange motorbike or car rental for you - motorbike rental is at street prices but car rental is a little more expensive than what you could get outside so you might want to shop around if you're into saving a couple of dollars.

_Location
Villa Coco is 5-7min walk from the beach (past construction sites on very narrow and sometimes non-existent sidewalks as is common for bali). As it is located in Legian and not Seminyak proper, you would need to hire a driver or rent your own motorbike to get to the "usual suspects" in Seminyak such as Ultimo or Potato Head or KDT (10-15min by car or 5-7min by motorbike). Of course, if you're not too fussed about going for the "popular" eateries, there are lots of small warungs and restaurants within walking distance along Jl. Arjuna (double-six) where the villa is or on the main street (Jl. Legian).

Thank you for your time to write a review. Just to let you know for future stays, we do have FREE Wi-fi in every Villa at Villa Coco, not sure why you only thought it was at the main pool area.

All the footpaths around the Seminyak area are being done as I am writing this and when they are finished it will be so much easier for people to get around. They have been done in Kuta and they are great.

Our location is Seminyak and Potato Head is not in Seminyak I am sorry, it is further down in Pettitenget.

We would love to have bigger pools in the pool villas in A Block but room just does not allow.

I hope you come back again...C2 is a great pool villa and the pool is bigger or C4 has a bigger pool. so keep this for next time.

Hope to meet you again at Villa Coco.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa - Villa# A7 right opposite the main pool. We LOVED it here. First of all the location of this villa complex is perfect right on double six (behind the Haven hotel) about 500m from the beach. It is hidden away down a little alley way away from the hussle and bustle.

The premises are beautiful with lovely private villas and bungalows throughout. The villa was lovely and spacious had a large outdoor dining area with a kitchen, lounge and dining table which overlooked the pool area. The pool was the perfect size and was nice and cool.

The bedrooms are great with a comfy bed, a large TV and DVD player for those nights you may want to relax. The bathroom is semi outdoor which I loved.

This is a great place to stay as a couple or even as a small group it is romantic and private in a great location (lots of Seminyak Villa's are off the beaten track...). AnotherGREAT thing about this place is the food is cheap which is so good when you want to lap up your villa and dine in around your private pool.

Loved it here I am so happy we discovered this place! After researching and researching I was so happy with our choise. Will definitily be back. Thanks Villa coco

We have been to Bali many times and have generally stayed on the beach in the Legian area. We wanted something a bit less hectic this time and booked for 5 nights in a two bedroom open style villa at Villa Coco. We took the option of the Seafood BBQ cooked in the room the first night and what a great first impression that made. The rooms are spotlessly clean and serviced daily, the outdoor bathrooms are great and the pool, kitchen and dining areas modern. The menu is of high quality, reasonably priced and promptly delivered minimising the need to go out to eat if you can't be bothered. The Manager Claire recommended we go to the Jadi Cafe about 200m away near Jln Double Six and it is so good and a must try - we went there on our last two nights - the food and atmosphere are terrific but be prepared to wait a little as they prepare your meal from scratch - go the Lime Chicken and Beef Rendang.
The staff at Villa Coco were fantastic - nothing is too much trouble - Claire the manager, Ibu Maria (tip her Tim Tams early and she'll do anything for you), Ibu Wayan and all the staff made this a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: The open style rooms with a pool are

So good of you to tip Maria Tim Tams....truly she needs to put on weight. Not many people get to see Maria but she is the tiny one that you liase with when booking. People always feel like they know Maria when they arrive. So keep the Tim Tams coming.

So nice that you all enjoyed Villa Coco and we will keep working hard to make it the place people love.

Just returned from six nights at the Villa Coco and had a great time, certainly wasn't long enough to enjoy the fine hospitality of this resort. We stayed in A3 which has an interconnecting room, private pool, outdoor bathrooms (unique), kitchenette, outdoor day bed, hammock and breakfast served in your room! Main pool is great, pool bar has excellent cocktails and happy hour lasts longer than an hour! At the southern end of Seminyak, close to markets in Legian or boutiques in Seminyak, about a 10 min walk to the beach. Overall a great place to stay?

Room Tip: A3 is between reception and the main pool, ideal location and rooms for two couples or a family.

We loved our stay at Villa Coco. We stayed at several different resorts in the 2 weeks we were in Bail and Villa Coco was by far the best. We stayed in the 'Two Bedroom Pool Villa' with friends. Our villa had a private garden, swimming pool, airconditioned bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and adjoining dining and lounge room. Villa Coco is right in the middle of the great shoping in Seminyak and Legian and only a short walk to the beach. I wish we had stayed longer and we will be back. The staff were friendly, helpful and very honest.

Room Tip: As we were with a group of people I saw several styles of rooms and they were all beautiful..

My family (two adults and three children aged 11,9 & 6) spent 12 nights at Villa Coco in August / September this year. Our garden bungalow was just magnificent. Upstairs is the master bedroom and downstairs is the second bedroom together with the open living / dining room that overlooks a stunning private walled garden.

This open living / dining room is a wonderful respite from the afternoon tropical heat, not to mention the hustle and bustle of frenetic Seminyak and we took full advantage of the indoor/outdoor living in our private walled garden. We also took advantage of the delicious and reasonably priced lunches and snacks that were delivered to the bungalow from the Villa Coco kitchen promptly on request.

Outside the private bungalows, Villa Coco has neat tropical gardens and a spacious swimming pool with a bar for evening cocktails. One of the best things about Villa Coco however, are the friendly staff who attend to any requests for assistance promptly and with a smile.

We'll be back for another holiday at Villa Coco next year. And probably for each year after that too!
