“Nice staynig in Bali”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

Although I was disappointed over Bali, the hotel choice, however, proved to be perfect. The rooms are clean, air conditioned, clean them regularly every day, every day fresh linen and towels every day bottles fresh water per person. Staff very friendly, helpful. Reception and restaurant rain 24 hours .. I like the peace in the surroundings of the hotel, although the front is quite a busy street, so to get a taxi is no problem. Price of taxi to Kuta is approximately 50,000 IRP to the taximeter. The beach is approx 10 min walk from the hotel.

This was the second time I have been to Bali. I had a friend that lives in Bali booked me this room. I thought the located was great! Although the place was full to capacity it was not noisy and didn't feel packed with people. The bar restaurant is 24 hours and served reasonable food and fair prices. The pool was a quiet oasis and never seemed crowded. The room was spacious and clean with all amenities. The balcony was a nice plus also. I will definitely stay at Taman Ayu again when I visit Bali!

It was my second time in Taman Ayu (Seminyak) and this time was a big big disappointment. I've been in Taman Ayu 2 years ago and I'd a great experience there. We were 3 people and we got a family cottage. It was great, everything was brand new and beautiful.
This time, I booked by internet and the room assigned was really really bad. Everything was old and crap, the forniture was broken, the mattress awful, the towels instead of white were grey, the bathtube was dirty, the bath curtain moldy...for the price I payed I could get a better accomodation in Seminyak or Kuta. Definitely it was a bad value for money and I will never go back Taman Ayu.
Suggestion: Do not book Taman Ayu by internet and check the room before doing check in. Family Cottages and Villas are nice but not Deluxe or Superior Rooms.
Sorry about my english :)

Wife and myself plus our four kids enjoyed this place; it was quiet, had the minimum required - pleasant staff, pool, ok breakfast, adequate room service, clean. We knew we were on to something when we met several different families/couples/singles who were repeat stayers.

Probably the best element of Taman Ayu was the room size - enormous compared to similarly priced other places.

Second best element was the location - you could head north to any number of restaurants/warungs up towards Kerobokan, or head into the much busier Seminyak eat-street area. We had some truly memorable family meals at an Italian restaurant, but also, up on Batu Belig, at a little noodle 66, with the most delightful views.

Taman Ayu hires scooters at reasonable rates and I headed over to Denpasar a few times, down into Kuta, as well as going exploring up the coast to the north.

Clay tennis court not too far away. Good spa, hairdresser, ATM short walk. Biku, famous for high tea, 250m walk but you need to book; Ku De Tah - 1km taksi or walk it.

In short, nothing special, but everything it should have been :)

we booked this villa for only a day to give us a place to stay before a late flight out. The photos in the brochure are definitely very deceiving and out one bedroom villa was not what was advertised! The room was dark, dirty, the airconditioning was not powerful enough to cool the room and the bathroom was not clean. The courtyard to our villa was dirt not grass and the outdoor cooking area covered in cobwebs.

The pool was badly in need of renovation and to get to the pool bar you had to climb out up over a huge ledge! We ended up spending our day elsewhere and only using the room to have a quick shower before leaving.

Would not recommend this place at all when there are so many nice villas nearby!

We decided to take the bigger room and most expensive but realised it was a mistake. The room was big but not very cleaned, the bathroom was really mouldy and the sheets needed some serious cleaning. Around the pool need renovation.
We did like the staff they were nice and helpful but as said in previous reviews we did not feel like going to the bar to watch sport, and did not enjoy the fact that there wasn't any flexibility with breakfast ( we had the same thing 3 days in a row).
Free internet at reception is a plus and I am sure we would have enjoy the place in a smaller and cleaner room.
The park is nice and well maintained, but do not trust pictures, the gym is an absolute joke.
Will probably find a less expensive and nicer hotel on our next trip...

After having had a very nice time in TAC two years ago, we were happy about going back this year and booked the super deluxe room we knew from our past stay, even though the price is now higher.

Apart from the fact that the room made a much more used impression (which we expected, of course), we have to note that the minor issues it had, have not been addressed (for example the water running from the bath tub to the floor around the toilet when taking a shower).
During the night we often woke up due to some loud noise, apparently from a pump which began to work when somebody started to shower. Taken into account the much louder traffic on Jalan Raya Petitenget and the somewhat noisy cleaning staff in the morning, this took its toll. When you then add a certain noise from the restaurant, now turned into a Sports Bar, you might come to the conclusion that we could have slept better.

Two years ago we really enjoyed to have the (even though at best average) breakfast at the simple but cozy restaurant. As they now have several televisions running, usually displaying whatever is available in terms of rugby, soccer, formula 1 and the like even in the morning, you do not really want to stay for long. Despite the personnel being quite charming, we usually had to ask for more coffee, which we dislike. Their attentiveness has deteriorated. To that you can add that the menue does not allow you any more to choose from several varieties of freshly made juice, they now give you a thin fluid they call orange juice (of course you can order another juice, but at an additional cost). That may be suitable for a Sports Bar wherever in the world, but not for a breakfast (our booking included ABF) on beautiful Bali.

Whereas the garden is still very well kept, especially the Sports Bar building is in urgent need of some improvement (the roof, the walls etc.). There comes the time when you have to invest some money. This time is now.

Apart from those hard facts, we have the impression that despite the generally still very friendly mood of the employees (especially at the front desk), there seems to have taken place some change in athmosphere. We cannot exactly say what it is, but something is different.

So, all in all we still think that TAC could be a hidden gem. But from our point of view the management should clearly decide on which kind of athmosphere they want to create and which quality of lodging they want to offer. For us, TAC's niche in business is its Balinese charme. Unfortunately, it is loosing exactly that.
If you plan to go there, you might want to check out the modernized rooms, they could offer a better value for money compared to the super deluxe room we had.

And a last remark: that is our viewpoint. We have to state that the Sports Bar seems to attract more people in the evening and that the hotel seemed to be better booked than two years ago, therefore this concept might be the right one. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for us.

The overall rating we give is mainly influenced by the fact that we do not feel to have received an adequate value for our money (the price increased, the value did certainly decrease).
