“Tucked away from the busy busy road”

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Stayed in 3 bedroom villa with our own pool. Seven women ! !! We arrived late and were taken to one villa but was told that they would move us the next morning as they had construction going on next door to where we were. Next morning moved to villa 17 was very very nice however next door to us in the new villa were two families with six ankle biters ! They were noisier, we never heard any construction work going on but the kiddies noise didn't bother me. The only thing one of the rooms was next door to, I think, the water pump so every now and again you could hear the sound like "the knife scene in psycho" !!!
With seven of us we needed an extra day lounge and we asked for one and hey presto it was there. nothing was too much trouble. They had a shuffle service and were happy to drop you down to kuta or into seminyak. Breakfasts were nice but not a lot of variety but the basics to get you started for the day. Really like this place hard to believe that it was just down a little lane off the main drag !! Wouldn't hesitate to go here again.

Room Tip: 3 bedroom villa ask for number 17 .

Situated in an internal area off Jalan Seminyak, you will be transported out of the chaos into a tranquil paradise. We've stayed at this resort each year since 2007. The staff are wonderful & truly helpful. Last time we stayed there, there were renovations happening & one pool wasn't operational. This didn't bother us as we had our own pool, but there was also the option to use the pool by reception. The villas are clean & neat. (cleaned daily) Some are furnished modern while others are more traditional Balinese. Both styles very comfortable. Bathrooms are modern & spacious, offering private outdoor showers. The beds are extremely comfortable & each bedroom is air conditioned, while the remainder of the villa is open air. The accessibility to a in-house driver is fantastic - but you must book. The buffet breakfast lacks somewhat, but having said that, there is plenty of choice - fresh fruit, bread/pastries, cereals & hot including eggs, sausages, bacon etc. Location is great for walking to shops/restaurants. Beach is a short drive away or approx. 30 minute walk away, down Jalan Dhyana Pura. Highly, recommend this boutique small resort - approx. 20 something villas.

Seven nights in May 2013 - six adults and 6 month old baby - shuttle excellent we were met at the airport by a traditionally dressed Balinese - we used the free shuttle numerous times during our stay. Renovations are going on but there's no disturbance. We received a friendly welcome, ice cold drinks and a cold flannel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The villa was great - plenty of privacy, three good sized air conditioned bedrooms and our own pool / spa - heavily used to keep cool. Like most places in Bali the villas are an oasis on the midst of a hot, bustling and not always tidy city. The restaurant was small but ok - excellent and quick room service - but most of our meals were at local restaurants The settee was not particularly comfortable and I made a comment to the General Manager Johnny Kardjundi - by mid-afternoon a new sofa was delivered and I think the same for the other villas. It's relatively quiet so if you want crowds and a vibrant hotel atmosphere Desamuda won't fit the bill for you but for families and similar... Highly recommended

Just had 3 nights at desamuda - 1 x 3 bedroom villa with private pool - # 17 - really nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Mozzies are a killer.
2 night time meals were good and breakfast was fine.
Nice friendly staff and courtesy bus was great.

The thing I found best about Desamuda Village is that it is very calm and quiet. It is located off a main road but down an alley and set back. As soon as you walk in all the beeping and the road noise fades and because it is villa type accommodation you have space.

We were in Bali for our wedding and stayed at Desamuda for two separate stays and had other family staying there too so I saw most of the different rooms available. We stayed in two different pool villas. We had a few hiccups with the first one- the hot water stopped working three days in a row. The second pool villa looked newer and we had no problems there. The bathroom in these single room pool villas has a very open floor plan and the toilet looks out on the pool. It's fine for two people but wouldn't be to everyone's taste. It also creates problems if you have friends visit your villa. Other family members had three bedroom pool villas that were just gorgeous. Each room has its own bathroom and is very spacious and it has great communal areas and cooking facilities. Would thoroughly recommend this accommodation if you are travelling with friends.

As others have mentioned the buffet breakfast isn't the best I've had. However, the staff are very accommodating and if there is a breakfast item you want ask for it. We requested pork bacon and on another occasion yoghurt and the staff were happy to oblige.

While we were there some construction was being done. They are replacing the thatched style roofs with tile look roofing. It was a little noisey but I guess it has to be done at some point. Judging by the pace they would be finished by mid to late June. At least they keep up with the maintenance! Overall it was a good stay and only not rated 5 star because of a few hiccups.

We were there for our honeymoon, my wife loved the place. The plunge pool, The open to air setup, the bedroom, the bed with the nets, the gardens in the villa were very nice.
The staff was also very helpful, they arranged for a short trip around Bali.
Many place to eat and shop just outside the place on the main road.

We absolutely loved the place and cant wait to visit again.
