We have been at the kunja for a week, six of us in a 3 bedroom pool villa for a birthday celebration. The experience from start to finish was fantastic. We were picked up at the airport and given chilled water, driven to the hotel (about 45 mins) and taken straight to our villa to check in. We were delighted to see that the photos on the net are completely realistic. The villas are huge and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are air conditioned with king sized beds and the living area is high ceilinged with fans. The ensuite bathrooms are very big with separate shower and bath but open to the outdoors which might not suit everyone. The pool is huge and deep at one end. We asked for two more sunbeds which we got immediately. Theres a stereo to plug your ipod into in the living area currently the iphone 4 connector so bring an adaptor cable if you have a 5. There's free wifi for each person. There's a water cooler/heater in the kitchen and the ice is made with filtered water.
A major treat for all of us was the in room breakfast service. There is a choice of eggs any style served with bacon tomato and sausage, Indonesian breakfast, pancakes, museli, yoghurt. We also got pastries, extra toast, orange juice and fruit. The nasi goreng was excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast though the orange juice was a fairly sweet bottled variety and the sausages were not good.Nonetheless, having someone else cook it and clear up would take some beating. We had an in villa BBQ dinner on our last night which was well worth the roughly $45 a head. Loads of BBQ seafood, salads, decorations and entertainment by traditional musicians. We loved this.
There is free transport from the hotel to the local area including legian and Kuta. We availed of this many times and never really had to wait. You have to get a taxi back but it costs about a dollar so very affordable. We booked a car through the hotel a few times and this was very reasonably priced, about $70 for a half day. We used the spa and it is great and reasonable as well, about $50 for an hour and a half hot stone and about $30 for a spa pedicure. Both the car service and the spa compare very favorably with the services at the W hotel and are half the price.
All in all our week was very relaxing and very good value with 6 sharing. We peeked in at the one bedrooms which were similar but on a smaller scale.
Our villa was number 10 at the back of the resort, there was occasionally some construction noise but this is a rapidly growing town so it's to be expected. The high walls around the villas provide some sound proofing and make you feel secure. Gorgeous touch at the end, a free sarong from the gorgeous Bema, one of our favourite staff members (he has excellent english). We are all planning a return trip with husbands in tow....maybe!
