Perhaps, after all the wonderful reviews, our expectations were too high. Overall, it was a pleasant but not extraordinary stay and there are a few observations from our experience which may be useful for other travellers.

1) Despite what others have mentioned, the morning breakfast was not really cooked in our villa during our stay. Although there was a kitchenette, the actual food was already cooked and brought in more like room service. From our daily observation, the staff came in each morning with 2 huge baskets. They set up the breakfast table using the dinning utensils/cultery found within our villa kitchenette and made tea with hot water from the water dispenser in the villa. Once the table was set, the food was taken out from the basket and placed onto the table. As a result, breakfast was no longer piping hot and only at room temperature resulting in it being less than appetising.

2) It is clearly stated on the hotel website, under FAQ, that the hotel provides free dropoff service to Kuta and should the hotel vehicle be not available, they will provide a taxi at the hotel's cost. On the 1st occasion, when we were told that the hotel car was not available, we deliberated for a while, expecting them to inform us about the taxi service but unfortunately, none of the 3 staff present made any attempt to inform us that it will be provided free so in the end we paid for the taxi ourselves. On the 2nd occasion when the hotel car was again not available, we asked about the free taxi and the staff, somewhat reluctantly confirmed that it was provided. We are surprised because it is a nice gesture for the hotel to offer the free taxi even though it doesn't cost a lot. So if this service has been advertised, it ought to have been provided upfront. For the staff to 'hide' behind it, was unnecessary and damaging to the high repute this hotel enjoys.

3) It was part of our package, a 20min foot massage upon arrival. We arrived in the evening and the check-in staff, although verfied the general contents of our package, did not mention anything about this massage. It was no big deal for us either so we didn't mention it even until check-out and naturally did not get any foot massage. Perhaps, it was an oversight but a guest at a truly top-rated hotel should not need to prompt or remind the hotel about a promise it made. Service should have been in anticipation rather than in reaction.

4) We tried the wireless internet in the villa but the connection was unstable and there was frequent disruption in the line.

On the upside, the staff was always polite and smiling, the villa was clean and comfortable, the massage and spa was so relaxing that we had long treaments everyday. We requested for a late check-out which was granted and did have an overall enjoyable stay.

We had the pleasure of staying in this villa which was located in the heart of Seminyak. Popular diners such as Ultimo was a mere 2 minutes walk away.

The villa was beautiful. We had a 3 bedder with a private swimming pool in the middle.

More importantly, the staff was genuinely warm in their service, and the villa doesn't nickel and dime you with additional charges. Soft drinks in the minibar came free (doesn't really cost much but how many hotels offer that?) as we were offered free transport when we asked the concierge to make a restaurant reservation further away from the villa. Definitely helpful and much appreciated when travelling in a larger group like ours.

Wasn't exactly cheap, but for the quality and service level, I think it's good value.

i booked at ulin villas after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. we were travelling with my elderly parents and 17th mnth old son and stayed in the 3-bed villa. the booking process was ultra organised and all my requests were confirmed. the villa was lovely and the pool huge. a few things i really liked were -
- excellent service. the staff refused us nothing and, when i spilled porridge all over the kitchen floor, they cleaned up the mega mess with smiles on their faces! on my mum's birthday, the entire staff collected to sing at the cake cutting - we were very touched at the warmth and sincerely of all of them.
- the rooms were nice and well maintained.
- pool was huge.
- the drop-off service was v convenient and they even helped us buy groceries and bring us back.
- the spa is excellent

a few things need a little tweaking i think -
- the food was mediocre and some of it below average.
- the bed creaked everytime one of us turned at night.
- the shower sprayed in every direction except directly in front

that said, all in all it was excellent and i would stay there again for sure. thanks again to the wonderful staff for such amazing service!

Ulin made our honeymoon perfect. The staffs are super friendly and the services are superb. Definately worth going back. Thank you everyone in Ulin for making our honeymoon amazing and memorable.
