I’m in two minds about this hotel. Its very good about being what it is, ie a medium to large size hotel. The hotel caters for a broad demographic and all staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. They are obviously well trained and clearly go out of their way to please guests. The staff were as accommodating as I’ve seen in a hotel of this size. The hotel is situated very close to the beach and a number of good restaurants.
The property has a number of very commendable policies: eg sun lounges can’t be reserved for more than an hour (excellent! A pet hate of mine is those selfish and inconsiderate people who “reserve” space for themselves poolside and then disappear for hours on end); you can bring in your own drinks, but only if you consume them in your own room, which is fine by me; and, the Departure Lounge, which is a great innovation for departing guests with late flights.
We utilised the Departure Lounge when we checked out at midday but weren’t flying out of Bali until 11pm. That the hotel enables gusts to use facilities after check out and then freshen up and change for a flight in the Departure lounge was one of the reasons we chose this property.
Although the rooms are a little on the small size they are adequate, well maintained and clean, as was the hotel site generally.
Our room balcony was only large enough for two people and there is little privacy between our balcony and our neighbours’ as the screens between balconies are rather flimsy. Might I suggest at this point that one policy the Breezes might consider adopting is that the no smoking area of the room be extended to include the balconies? There was nothing more disappointing for us than to have our relaxation on the balconies marred by our neighbours’ cigarette smoke.
As reported by others the hotel encourages a party atmosphere. Although we are older than those who go to Bali primarily to party we enjoy seeing people having fun. The partying was not too raucous and was always closed off by 10pm. Nevertheless if you don’t like some noise you probably should stay elsewhere.
So having stated that the hotel is well located, well maintained and well managed, why and I in two minds? I think that it boils down to us enjoying smaller hotels which are a little more intimate and which maintain some connection with the Balinese culture. Unfortunately this connection cannot be sustained by the larger hotels. Having said that, I would under the right circumstances return to the Breezes.
