Dirty, old but not ancient forniture, mosquitos in the room and beetles and some else exotic insects alone the path and into the chest in the room. A lot of bottles of beer in the garden (garden???!!!), no key locker at the room door but only a padlock that doesn't completely close the room, dirty stains over the walls, the wardrobe, the TV and the frigobar, open air toilet with yellow stains over the WC and in the tube... Need some more else? The perfect place to live your personal hell in the Paradise Island...

Nice play to stay, staff very helpful quickly addressed any issues with my room (first room was older and had roosters that would crow in the back of the property, second room newly remodeled but loud neighbors). The superior deluxe room was well worth the upgrade in price. Good deal! Food basic but convenient.

Development of double-storey Balinese style bungalows each with its own small courtyard. Although it is on a rather busy street, it is quiet throughout the day and night.

I occupied a ground-level unit with twin-beds, which consisted of a sizeable room with outdoor toilet/shower/bath. The room’s furnishing is simple but sufficient (cupboard with safety box, vanity table, mini-bar and TV rack with satellite TV) and the bathroom is an inter-play of various types of stones and a carved wooden two-winged door, which does not fit perfectly but adds to the charm and is pleasing on the eye. The same applies to the front-door, which is secured with a pad-lock when out and a bolt when inside the room.

The place was clean and the staff on average quite friendly and helpful.

The selection of bathroom amenities was rather basic: towels, shampoo, bath and shower gel. Hence bring your own cake of soap, tissues, toothbrushes, body lotion, cotton buds, shower caps etc. if you depend on it. There are two small bottles of complimentary drinking water but no tea-maker. The minibar has soft drinks and beer and some chocolate bars on offer.

Water pressure was a bit low and the toilet flush was too weak to even handle a small amount of tissue paper. That need not be the case in all the units of the development but to avoid embarrassment, try the flush first and decide if you want to take a chance on it.

The place has a open-air spa area near the swimming pool, an open-air bar and a pool table. It is probably quite okay to spend an afternoon there if you just like to laze around.

The F&B offering of the restaurant (which seems to be an Aussie sports bar) is fair value and all the a la carte dishes I tried exceeded my expectations considerably.

Breakfast was included. 3 types are on offer: American, Continental and Local. All include coffee/tea, orange juice (industrial), fruit platter (4 – 5 seasonal varieties; however, except for the pawpaw, all were a bit unripe when I was there). I recommend to order the orange juice a la carte because it is fresh and excellent.

They have free internet near the reception/restaurant. I was however not able to get a signal in my room.

The location of the hotel is quite ideal, i.e. a 5 – 10 minute walk from Hu’u Bar and some 5 minutes by taxi from restaurants, shops, Ku De Ta and the beach.

Room Tip: As mentioned, the water pressure was a bit weak even at a ground-floor unit and may be even weaker on the upper floor.

We have stayed here 4 times, and enjoyed it each time.
The pool is great, the rooms are large (Superior room) but the standard rooms seem
OK.
We visited to Villas at the back of the complex with their own pool and small kitchen seems good and we may stay there if there is more than the 2 of us.
In our last visit for 3 nights, it was seeming a bit tired, but probably will end off our Bali trip there.
It is a bit of a hike to the beach but I hire a motor bike so there is no problem.
There are a few restaurants within walking distance.

We didn't stay at this hotel, but we did come down to the sports bar to watch an Australian footy game. It was fantastic!! The bar was full of Aussies enjoying the game, the service was great, everytime my beer was empty, the bottle disappeared and with a nod of the head, another appeared! I even tried a Village burger - which was a hamburger with banana, pineapple and avocado?!? Very strange sounding - outstanding taste!!!
If your in the Seminyak area, looking for somewhere to watch the AFL or NRL, give Bali Ayu a go!
